Dunas Playa

If you are looking for a hotel near Dunas Playa, there are many great options nearby.  If you are looking for an upscale hotel, the 5-Star Five Flowers Hotel & Spa Formentera is 14 minutes away by car and offers many amenities, including an outdoor pool, a fitness center, a hot tub, a spa, and an Asian-fusion restaurant.  A more affordable hotel is the 4-Star Hotel Riu La Mola, which has many amenities, including two outdoor pools, a hot tub, a spa with a steam room, tennis courts, a fitness center, a kids’ club, a playground, three restaurants, and complimentary breakfast.  Another moderately priced option is the 4-star Insotel Hotel Formentera Playa, which offers many amenities including an indoor and outdoor pool, a fitness room, a spa, tennis courts, a kids' club, a playground, two restaurants, and complimentary breakfast.  A more reasonably priced option is the 3-star Sa Pedrera Suites & Spa, which has amenities including a spa,a sauna, a hot tub, a plunge pool, an outdoor pool, a sundeck, a fitness center, a restaurant, and complimentary breakfast.  If you are looking for another good and affordable hotel near Dunas Playa, the 3-Star Hotel Sa Volta has many amenities including an outdoor pool, a hot tub, a restaurant, and complimentary breakfast.

Dunas Playa does not have lifeguards but offers several other amenities including a wooden walkway, fishermen's huts, nearby restaurants, and hotels.

Dunas Playa offers many fun activities, including sunbathing, beachcombing, strolling, diving, and snorkeling.  If you are planning to go into the water, the waves are usually calm and have sandy bottoms.   If you enjoy snorkeling, the beach offers amazing opportunities to explore the underwater world.  Dunas Playa is often considered a nude beach – there is a designated clothing-optional area on the northern end of the beach.  This beach is ideal for visitors looking for a quieter experience, as it sees fewer visitors than other nearby beaches.  Dogs are not allowed here, and it is open from sunrise until sunset.

Dunas Playa does not offer an access path for people with disabilities.

It is important to note that the only way to reach Formentera Island is by boat.  If you are traveling from Ibiza, you can book a ferry that departs from Eivissa Harbour located at Avinguda de Santa Euluria des Riu, 17, which takes around 30 minutes to reach Formentera's port of La Savina and costs between €18 and €29.  There are multiple ferry crossings between the islands throughout the day. 

If you are traveling from Denia, there are at least seven weekly voyages.  You can book a ferry that leaves from Denia Port, located at Estacion Maritima, S/N, Alicante, and reach Formentera in around two hours for a starting price of €66.

If you are coming from Barcelona, visitors can book a ferry that departs daily from Port Barcelona, located at Moll Adossat 6, and reach Formentera in around twelve hours for a starting price of €62.

Please also note that these ferry operators offer visitors the option to transfer their cars to Formentera on a ferry with them, for which you have to pay and book in advance, and you can also book a private boat from many other companies in the harbors in these cities.

Once you are on Formentera Island, getting to Dunas Playa is easy - it has a paid parking lot located at Lugar Venda De Ses Clotades, 4449, Km 11, which is easily accessible via PM 820 and provides easy access to the beach.

There are many attractions near Dunas Playa.  La Mola Trail is a four-mile, dog-friendly, easy hiking trail that leads you to the highest point of the Formentera island, where visitors can explore an 18th-century lighthouse and a museum.  It offers incredible views of the vast Mediterranean Sea.  Cami de Can Marroig is a two and a half-mile-long easy hiking trail that meanders through juniper and pine forests.  This trail leads to a traditional Formentera windmill, which offers an interesting glimpse into the history of the island.  Ses Salines Natural Park is a protected natural area that is home to salt flats, sand dunes, coastal lagoons, and wetlands, making it a unique combination of terrestrial and marine ecosystems.  Visitors can enjoy many fun activities, including hiking, biking, picnicking, bird watching, and boating. Cala Codolar is a moderately challenging hiking trail that leads to a small cove positioned on the southern side of the cliffs of La Mola, which is an ideal spot for fishing and watching sunsets.  If you are looking for another attraction near Dunas Playa, Cova Rosa is a natural sea cave that is famous for its striking red and orange hues on the walls and ceiling of the caves as a result of mineral deposits and algae growth.
