Overview
Located on the southwestern coast of the beautiful island of Formentera, Calo Des Mort is a 20-meter-long and 5-meter-wide crescent-shaped white sand beach that is recognized as one of the most famous beaches on the island. The beach is positioned on the easternmost part ofPlaya de Migjorn, which is the longest beach in Formentera. The beach has a beautiful backdrop of many large sandstone cliffs and two wooden boathouses that provide incredible views of the Mediterranean Coast.
Amenities
Calo Des Mort does not have lifeguards or any other amenities except two boat houses with a boat launch, so plan your trip accordingly.
Activities
Calo Des Mort offers several fun activities, including swimming, sunbathing, beachcombing, strolling, diving, and snorkeling. If you are planning to go into the water, the waves at this protected cove are usually calm and have sandy bottoms, making it a perfect spot to swim. It is important to note that we recommend being careful during high tides. If you enjoy snorkeling, the beach offers amazing opportunities for nature enthusiasts to explore the underwater world. Visitors can sunbathe on the rocks around the beach. Calo Des Mort is often considered a nude beach – there is a designated clothing-optional area on the beach. This beach is ideal for visitors looking for a quieter experience, as it sees fewer visitors than other nearby beaches. Dogs are not allowed here, and it is open from sunrise until sunset.

Parking
It is important to note that the only way to reach Formentera Island is by boat. If you are traveling from Ibiza, you can book a ferry that departs from Eivissa Harbour located at Avinguda de Santa Euluria des Riu, 17, which takes around 30 minutes to reach Formentera's port of La Savina and costs between €18 and €29. There are multiple ferry crossings between the islands throughout the day.
If you are traveling from Denia, there are at least seven weekly voyages. You can book a ferry that leaves from Denia Port, located at Estacion Maritima, S/N, Alicante, and reach Formentera in around two hours for a starting price of €66.
If you are coming from Barcelona, visitors can book a ferry that departs daily from Port Barcelona, located at Moll Adossat 6, and reach Formentera in around twelve hours for a starting price of €62.
Please also note that these ferry operators offer visitors the option to transfer their cars to Formentera on a ferry with them, for which you have to pay and book in advance, and you can also book a private boat from many other companies in the harbors in these cities.
Once you are on Formentera Island, getting to Calo Des Mort is easy - it has a few street parking spots located at Carretera a Maryland I, 4708, which is easily accessible via PM 820 and provides easy access to the beach.
Alternatively, visitors can also park their vehicles at Platja des Copinyar, located at Carrer Nueva en Ponencia, 07872, and hike toward the east for around thirteen minutes to access the beach.

Calo Des Mort is a perfect spot for enjoying the sunset on the rocks over the Mediterranean Sea. Despite its small length, this hidden cove attracts a large influx of visitors every year.
Attractions
There are many attractions near Calo Des Mort. Torre La Gavina is an 18th-century defense tower built on the cliffs of Punta Gavina that was used to monitor the arrival of enemy ships in the west of the island and provide incredible views of Ibiza and Es Vedra. Cami de Sa Pujada is a three-mile long, dog-friendly, moderately challenging hiking trail that starts from Es Caló, a small fishing village that leads to an old quarry of marés (limestone), a small cave, the vineyards, and finishes at the Lighthouse of Cap de Barbaria. It offers incredible views of the island and provides an unforgettable hiking experience. Cap de Barbaria Lighthouse is situated at the southernmost point of Formentera, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. It was built in 1972 to navigate the ships safely along the coastline and to mark the dangerous rocks and cliffs in the area.
Molino Viejo de la Mola is one of the seven wind-powered flour mills in the area, which played a crucial role in the island’s flour production.
