Overview

Located in Mission Bay Park, Campland on the Bay is a privately-owned tent and RV campground that has an unnamed beach with light brown sand. This beach is also known as Campland on Bay Beach. 

Amenities

While the beach in Campland on the Bay does not have lifeguards, the beach and the area around it have many amenities for campers including boat launching facilities, a children’s playground, a marina, a skateboard park, horseshoe courts, basketball courts, volleyball courts, water sporting equipment, and boat rental facility, fire pits, and picnic tables. Dogs are not allowed on the beach. 

Activities

The beach in Campland on the Bay offers many fun activities for campers including sunbathing, swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, canoeing, volleyball, picnicking, jet-skiing, and surf-skiing. The generally calm water near this beach makes it ideal for beginner swimmers, kayakers, canoers, and paddleboarders. In addition, a designated swimming area is also present in the water near this beach. Fire pits present around the beach in Campland on the Bay offer a relaxing and amazing waterfront bonfire session.  

Parking

Getting to Campland on the Bay is easy - the campground is located near 2211 Pacific Beach Drive. However, it is important to note that the beach is surrounded by private property and is only open to visitors who are camping in Campland on the Bay. If you are planning to camp in Campland on the Bay, you can visit Campland on the Bay’s website for more information regarding the campground rules, amenities, and charges.

Attractions

There are many attractions near Campland on the Bay. Mission Bay Golf Course and Practice Center has an 18-hole golf course that offers a challenging session of golf. Tecolote Canyon Natural Park & Nature Center is based around the Tecolote Canyon. This park has six-and-a-half miles of hiking and biking trails which can be used to explore the park’s vibrant landscape. In addition, the Tecolote Nature Center also offers interesting exhibits on the unique biodiversity of Tecolote Canyon. If you are looking for another attraction near Campland on the Bay, Kate Sessions Park is a 79-acre park that offers amazing Instagram-worthy views. This park is named in honor of renowned local horticulturist Kate Sessions. The park has two separate sections - one section is popular among families and has walking paths, restrooms, barbecues, drinking fountains, and picnic tables. The other section of this park has coastal scrub vegetation that you can explore via hiking trails. This park also has a children’s playground.  

Restaurants

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants near Campland on the Bay. Sushi Ota is an upscale restaurant that offers delicious Japanese dishes including sushi, sashimi, and tempura. Pacific Beach Fish Shop is a popular restaurant that offers a casual ambiance and amazing South California-inspired seafood. In addition, this restaurant has been praised by the San Diego Magazine. If you are looking for another good and affordable restaurant near Campland on the Bay, Oscars Mexican Seafood offers amazing tacos, tortas, burritos, and ceviches.
