Overview

Located approximately one-and-a-half mile south of the Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center, Fletcher Beach is a beige-sand beach with some rocky portions. This beach is situated on a barrier island named South Hutchinson Island. The rocky portions in Fletcher Beach are composed of limestone. Coastal vegetation is present near this beach. 

Amenities

Fletcher Beach does not have lifeguards or any other amenities except restrooms, so plan accordingly. Dogs are allowed on leash in Fletcher Beach. 

Activities

Fletcher Beach offers many fun activities including sunbathing, beachcombing, wildlife watching, fishing, surfing, swimming, bodyboarding, skimboarding, kitesurfing, windsurfing, kayaking, canoeing, bodysurfing, jet-skiing, surf-skiing, water-skiing, parasailing, boating, and wakeboarding. If you are planning to enter the water near Fletcher Beach, we recommend being careful as the water here is known to have unpredictable rip currents. Depending on the time of the year, you can view many kinds of animals in the water near this beach including sea turtles and dolphins. Sea turtles also use Fletcher Beach as a seasonal nesting spot. Fletcher Beach is ideal for visitors looking for a quieter beach experience as this beach sees fewer visitors than other nearby Martin County beaches.

Getting to Fletcher Beach is easy - the beach is present near 45 North East MacArthur Boulevard, where a small free parking lot is also present. 

Attractions

There are many attractions near Fletcher Beach. The Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center is a 57-acre center which is home to 4,300 species of plants and animals. The center also offers a 750,000-gallon Game Fish Lagoon, a touch tank, multiple nature trails, and informative educational programs. Elliott Museum offers interesting historical, scientific, and artistic exhibitions. The museum also has a gallery displaying baseball-related memorabilia, and it also has a vast collection of antique watercraft, cars, trucks, bicycles, motorcycles. If you are looking for another attraction near Fletcher Beach, Sandsprit Park is a waterfront recreational park that offers many amenities including a boardwalk, biking path, a boat ramp, a fishing pier, picnic areas, a playground, and restrooms.

Restaurants

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants near Fletcher Beach.  Benihana is an upscale restaurant that serves excellent steaks and Japanese dishes including sushi, sashimi, and tempura. In addition, the restaurant also offers exciting teppanyaki performances. The Dolphin Bar & Shrimp House is a waterfront restaurant which serves excellent dishes for lunch and dinner including seafood, steaks, meatloaf, sandwiches, burgers, and Southern United States-style dishes. This restaurant was initially built by American actress Frances Langford and it currently also hosts live music performances. If you are looking for another good and affordable restaurant near Fletcher Beach, Flamingo Diner is a popular local restaurant which offers amazing dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner including seafood, Greek and Italian dishes, burgers, steaks, and eggs.
