Destin Beach

Located in the city of Destin, Destin Beach is a beach with white sand.

Although Destin Beach does not have lifeguards, the beach and the area around it offer many other amenities including restrooms, showers, a playground, barbecue areas, a boardwalk, and nearby grassy recreational areas.

Dogs are not allowed here.

Destin Beach offers many fun activities including sunbathing, beachcombing, fishing, picnicking, swimming, boating, surfing, paddleboarding, skimboarding, bodyboarding, wakeboarding, scuba diving, jet-skiing, kayaking, canoeing, and wildlife watching.

If you are planning to swim, kayak, canoe, or paddleboard here, we recommend being careful because the water here is known to have unpredictable rip currents and dangerous waves.  In addition, swarms of jellyfish can be found near this beach around June and these animals can cause painful stings.

If you are looking for another nearby beach that has fewer visitors and offers a quieter beach experience, you can visit the nearby Eglin Matterhorn Beach Access, which is also known as Matterhorn Beach Access and is a part of the Eglin Air Force Base.

Destin Beach does not offer wheelchair access to visitors with disabilities.

Getting to Destin Beach is easy – from United States Highway 98/Florida State Road 30, you need to turn towards Scenic Highway 98.  This beach is located along Scenic Highway 98, near the highway’s intersection with Restaurant Row.  There are multiple free parking lots near the beach.

We recommend visiting Destin Beach early during summers because this beach can get crowded during this time.

There are many attractions near Destin Beach – you can check out the Destin Florida photos that show the popular nearby The Destin Harbor Boardwalk.  This boardwalk offers many fun things to explore including shops, restaurants, amusement rides, and bars.  This boardwalk also offers many fun activities including zip lining, parasailing, and mini-golf and it also offers rental facilities for watersports equipment, and sitting areas.  Gator Beach – The World's Greatest Alligator Park is an alligator park where visitors can see and feed hundreds of live American alligators – this park also hosts fun shows about these amazing creatures.  In addition, the park also has a Discovery Zone that has interpretive exhibits about alligators and their habitat.  If you like go-karting, The Track – Destin offers fun go-kart tracks and it also offers many other fun rides including bumper cars, spinning coasters, and blaster boats - this go-karting facility also has mini-golf courses and an arcade.  Destin History and Fishing Museum offers informative exhibitions about Destin’s unique and vibrant history – in addition, the museum also has a wide variety of fishing-related exhibits including author Ernset Hemingway’s fishing rod and many antique fishing equipment.  If you are looking for another attraction near the beach,Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park is home to many aquatic and semi-aquatic animals including seals, sea lions, manta rays, penguins, alligators, turtles, and stingrays.  In addition, this marine park also organizes fun interactive sessions and exciting animal shows.

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants near Destin Beach.  The Back Porch is a popular waterfront restaurant that is known for serving excellent seafood including oysters, grilled grouper, and grilled shrimp – this restaurant also serves other amazing dishes including chicken dishes, steaks, soups, and salads.  Boshamps Seafood & Oyster House is an upscale restaurant that is known for serving amazing seafood and it also serves excellent steaks, salads, burgers, and duck – this restaurant also offers live music performances.  McGuire’s Irish Pub is an Irish-style pub that serves amazing dishes for brunch, lunch, and dinner including seafood, steak, lamb, burgers, and British dishes – this restaurant also offers Irish music performances and has been praised by Southern Living magazine and Wine Spectator magazines.  Fudpucker’s Beachside Bar and Grill offers many delicious dishes including seafood, soups, chicken dishes, steaks, pasta burgers, and sandwiches and it also serves excellent cocktails.  If you are looking for another good and affordable nearby restaurant, Dewey Destin Seafood Restaurant offers delicious seafood, along with a variety of other dishes including grilled chicken, salads, crab legs, sandwiches, and burgers.
