Located in the city of Cocoa Beach, Shepard Park – which is also known as Alan Shepard Park and is named after the astronaut Alan Shephard – is an oceanfront park with an unnamed light grey sand beach. 

Although Shepard Park does not have lifeguards, it has many other amenities including picnic tables, a playground, restrooms, and showers. Dogs are allowed in designated areas of the park if they are on a leash. 

Shepard Park offers many fun activities including surfing, swimming, sunbathing, and fishing. 

Getting to Shephard Park is easy - it is located at 299 East Cocoa Beach Causeway. The beach is easily accessible from the paid parking lot is available near the park entrance.

There are many attractions near Shepard Park. The Museum of Dinosaurs and Ancient Cultures is a non-profit museum and educational center. The museum exhibits a 46-foot Giganotosaurus skeleton, along with many other interesting fossils from prehistory, and also has exhibitions about ancient cultures from various parts of the world including Central Africa, New Guinea, and Egypt. Lori Wilson Park is an oceanfront recreational park that is a popular site for events and gatherings. The park offers many amenities including pavilions, restrooms, three outdoor showers, grills, a playground, a sand volleyball court, and drinking fountains. Florida Surf Museum preserves the surfing culture of the East Coast through its exhibits. The Florida Surf Museum has biographies of legends, surf locations, and numerous tales told by members of the surfing community from the past and present.
