Overview
Located in the city of Malibu, Dan Blocker Beach is located across Malibu Beach RV Park on the Pacific Coast Highway. Also known as Corral Beach or Corral State Beach, especially by locals, it is one mile in length, narrow, rocky, rarely crowded, and has lots of beach grass. This beach was named after the late actor Dan Blocker who is well-renowned for playing the loved character of ‘Hoss’ on the popular TV series Bonanza by its owners and Dan’s fellow actors Lorne Greene and Michael Landon. They donated the beach to the State of California which transferred it over to Los Angeles County in September 1995; it is also known as Dan Blocker County Beach.
Amenities
Los Angeles County added various amenities here in 2014, including a parking lot, lifeguards, restrooms, picnic tables, and handicap-accessible ramp. Dan Blocker Beach has shallow waters and small waves, making it a great place to swim and snorkel.

Parking
To access the beach, there is free parking alongside Pacific Coast Highway – park near Malibu Beach RV Park and walk down to the beach on one of several paths between the seagrass. You can also use the small paid parking lot, but beach access is difficult from there as you will have to walk up to the Pacific Coast Highway first. You can also use the parking lot for Corral Canyon Park from where you can walk through an underpass that goes directly to the beach. Dan Blocker Beach is also accessible via buses that follow Route 534.
Attractions
If you like camping, Malibu Beach RV Park is a campground nearby where you can set up a tent, or even an RV or a cottage at their campsites. Point Dume is a promontory that projects into the Pacific Ocean a 10-minute drive away – it forms the northern end of Santa Monica Bay, and is a perfect spot for hiking, especially for beginners because of its natural climbing wall with moderate single-pitch rock climbing routes. Escondido Falls are the tallest waterfalls in the Santa Monica Mountains which is 200 feet tall – you can reach here following the popular Escondido Falls Hiking Trail which is four miles in length. Adamson House Museum which is also known as the ‘Taj Mahal of Tile’ is a six-minute drive away, and explores the history of Malibu. You can drive six-minutes to Malibu Pier which is a tourist attraction site famous for its iconic dual white towers, rough-hewn planks, and restaurants. You can also do shopping, fishing, watch dolphins, and meet movie stars here on a lucky day.

Malibu Seafood Fresh Fish Market & Patio Café is an American seafood restaurant which was mentioned in ‘Where to Eat, Drink and Find Adventure in Malibu, California’ by Wine Enthusiast. Marmalade Café - Malibu is a local vegetarian-friendly eatery offering soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, tacos, pasta, and breakfast options. If you are looking for an upscale restaurant, try Nobu Malibu – it is a Japanese restaurant that features Nobu Matsuhisa's signature dishes such as Tiradito, Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeno, and Black Cod with Miso.
