Overview
Located in the town of Westport, Pete’s Beach is small, narrow, and one of the two beaches that are part of a state park named Western - Union Landing State Beach. Pete’s Beach is situated on the south side of the private Western Beach RV Park & Campground. Pete’s Beach is rarely crowded and is an awesome destination for fishing and beachcombing.
Amenities
Pete’s Beach welcomes dogs on leash and has a rock arch on the south. If you are looking for additional amenities, you can walk two minutes south to a convenience store called Westport Community Store.

Parking
Getting to Pete’s Beach is easy – the beach is situated at 39013 Shoreline Highway and there is a long free pullout parking lot along the highway in front of the Westport Solid Waste Transfer and Recycling Center. After parking, you will need to climb down a short trail with steps from the southern end of the parking lot to the beach.
Attractions
If you are looking for nearby attractions, there are many options within a 35-minute drive of Pete’s Beach. Spread across 47 acres, Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens features canyons, wetlands, coastal bluffs, a closed-cone pine forest, and many plant collections including Magnolias, Dahlias, Camellias, Maples, and Fuchsias. The historical Californian landmark Temple of Kwan Tai is a Chinese Taoist temple where visitors can learn about the history of Chinese Americans. If you like fishing, Point Arena Fishing Pier is a 330-feet long public pier and is a great spot for diving, kayaking, surfing, and fishing sea urchins, crabs, and salmons. Another great attraction near Pete’s Beach is the Skunk Model Train Museum that is home to one of the largest collections of railway locomotives, streetcars, electric cars, buildings, and other artifacts.
Restaurants
If you get hungry, you can drive 20 minutes to many restaurants near Pete’s Beach. The seafood restaurant Princess Seafood Market & Deli serves oysters, shrimps, prawns, steaks, salads, wines, and desserts. Cravingrill is a Mediterranean restaurant that offers Fettuccine Alfredo, pasta, chicken, and beef dishes along with special items for vegans. Another good restaurant near Pete’s Beach is D'Aurelio's, a pizza restaurant featuring homemade pizza, garlic bread, burgers, breadsticks, and chicken wings.

If you are looking for a hotel near Pete’s Beach, you can 27 minutes to the 4-Star pet-friendly hotel North Cliff Inn that offers many amenities including Jacuzzis, whirlpool tubs, and hiking and fishing tours.
