Located along the San Francisco Bay coastline, Oyster Cove Beach - also known as Oyster Point Beach - is a small beach with light brown sand and nearby trees.  Oyster Cove Beach is located within the San Mateo County Harbor District and it is a part of a recreational park and marina named Oyster Point Park & Marina.  Oyster Cove Beach does not have lifeguards.  However, the area around the beach has many amenities including picnic tables, a fishing pier, boat launching facilities, and walking paths.

Oyster Cove Beach offers many fun activities including hiking, sunbathing, beachcombing, fishing, swimming, picnicking, kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, boating, and jet skiing.  The calm water at Oyster Cove Beach is ideal for beginner swimmers, kayakers, canoers, and stand-up paddleboarders.  The beach is also popular with families because there is a grassy area and picnic tables around it, making it ideal for fun family picnics.  There is a 170-foot long fishing pier near this beach, which serves as an excellent fishing spot.  Depending on the time of the year, you can catch many kinds of fish from his pier including leopard sharks, bat rays, skates, perches, bass, and croakers.  If you are planning to fish in the water around this pier, please follow the fishing regulations that can be found on the website of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.  We also recommend bringing along a net while fishing here because the water here has many large fish.  The San Francisco Bay Trail passes near Oyster Cove Beach and offers an amazing biking and hiking experience.  In addition, the trail also offers amazing Instagram-worthy views of the San Francisco Bay. 

Getting to Oyster Cove Beach is easy - from United States Highway 101, you need to take the Oyster Point Boulevard exit in South San Francisco.  You then need to drive east along Oyster Point Boulevard and follow the signs posted along the way offering directions to Oyster Point Park & Marina.  Once you reach the park and marina, you can park in a parking lot located along the nearby Marina Boulevard.  Once you park here, you can easily walk to Oyster Cove Beach. 

There are many attractions near Oyster Cove Beach.  Louis A. Turpen Aviation Museum & Library offers interesting and informative exhibits about the evolution of commercial aviation with an emphasis on the West Coast region of the United States.  San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is one of the largest modern art museums of the United States and the world. The museum collection currently has around 33,000 artworks including paintings, photographs, architectural exhibitions, sculptures, and exhibitions based on designs and media arts.  Sign Hill Park (also called Sign Hill) is a 65-acre park recreaional park that is also a part of the National Register of Historic Places – the park also offers amazing views of the San Francisco Bay.  You can also see many plants and animals in this park including California poppies, dark-eyed juncos, red-tailed hawks and you can also see endangered plants and animals here including mission blue butterflies and rare coast iris – in addition, this park also has multiple hiking trails.  If you are looking for another  attraction near Oyster Cove Beach, San Mateo Central Park and Japanese Garden is spread over 16 acres and hosts many interesting events throughout the year including the Central Park Music Series and exciting Fourth of July celebrations known as “4th of July in the Park.”  In addition, the park also has a recreational center that hosts aerobics classes.  The park’s beautiful Japanese garden was designed by landscape architect Nagao Sakurai and has a pagoda, a tea house, a koi pond, and a bamboo grove.  Visitors often visit the gardens during late winters and early springs to watch beautiful cherry blossoms. 

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants near Oyster Cove Beach.  Benihana offers a pleasant oceanfront dining experience.  The restaurant also serves excellent steaks and Japanese dishes including sushi, sashimi, and tempura.  In addition, the restaurant also offers exciting teppanyaki-based performances.  H.L Peninsula Restaurant serves amazing Cantonese dishes including dim-sum and char siu bao.  Foundry & Lux is a restaurant that has a casual ambiance and it serves many delicious dishes with international culinary influences including salads, sandwiches, burgers, poultry dishes, beef brisket, and barbecued ribs.  If you are looking for another good and affordable restaurant near Oyster Cove Beach, the modestly priced Dumpling Empire is famous for its delicious dumplings.  In addition, the restaurant also offers amazing Chinese dishes including chow-mein, chow-fun, and fried rice.
