Coronado Shores Beach

Located in the city of Coronado, Coronado Shores Beach is a wide and rarely crowded beach situated in front of the Coronado Shores Beach Club resort.

Also known as South Beach, Coronado Shores Beach has a few amenities including lifeguards and a party scene.

Coronado Shores Beach offers many fun activities including swimming, surfing, paddle-boarding, biking, and bodyboarding. Visitors can also get a look at the shipwreck of the SS Monte Carlo, a 300-foot-long ship-cum-floating-casino, from the beach during winters at extremely low tides on a clear day.

To access the beach, Coronado Shores Beach’s small free parking lot is situated behind the beach near condos at Avenida Del Mundo; if you are visiting here for the first time, it is advisable to ask Coronado Shores entrance booth about the day-use parking areas.  You can also walk a few minutes south of Coronado Beach to get here.

If you are looking for attractions near Coronado Shores Beach, you can drive 16-minutes to USS Midway Museum, a historical naval aircraft carrier museum consisting of the aircraft carrier Midway that was the United States’ longest-serving aircraft carrier from 1945 to 1992.  USS Midway Museum hosts more than 700 events every year including 400 active-duty Navy retirements, re-enlistments, field trips of over 50,000 students annually – and American Idol, Discovery Channel, and Fox News have also filmed their episodes here. The beautiful nightlife neighborhood Gaslamp District is known for its clubs, dive bars, cocktail lounges, and restaurants – you can also visit Horton Plaza Park here that has an interactive fountain. If you like performing arts, Spreckels and Balboa theaters feature music concerts, comedy shows, and plays. Another great attraction near Coronado Shores Beach is San Diego Zoo, a non-profit wildlife sanctuary that is home to 3,500 rare and endangered animals, and over 700,000 plants.

If you get hungry, you can drive three minutes to the pet-friendly waterfront restaurant Bluewater Boathouse Seafood Grill that has incredible views of the Coronado bridge and serves seafood dishes and cocktails in a patio and boat docking setting. Sun Deck is an American bar restaurant with a nice menu that includes salads, sandwiches, cheeseburgers, fries, and mojitos. Another good restaurant near Coronado Shores Beach is the always-crowded Miguel's Cocina that features Mexican food, margaritas, sangrias, and tequilas.
