Crown Cove

Located in the city of Coronado, Crown Cove is an east-facing beach situated on the San Diego Bay and is a part of the Silver Strand State Beach. Crown Cove is well-equipped with amenities including lifeguards, restrooms, showers, fire pits, boat ramps, a volleyball court, and picnic tables. 

There are many fun activities at Crown Cove including swimming, boating, sailing, kayaking, biking, stand-up paddle-boarding, and hiking. If you are looking for additional activities, Crown Cove Aquatic Center is within walking distance of the beach and offers boating classes and kayak, sailboat, and stand-up paddleboard rentals. 

Getting to Crown Cove is very easy – after you get off of Silver Strand Boulevard, enter the Silver Strand State Beach entrance, and ride north to the paid parking lot next to a campground. You can easily access the beach from here through a pedestrian underpass.

If you are looking for attractions near Crown Cove, there are many within a 25-minute drive of Crown Cove. The USS Midway Museum is a historical naval aircraft carrier museum consisting of the aircraft carrier Midway that was the United States’ longest-serving aircraft carrier from 1945 to 1992. The USS Midway Museum hosts more than 700 events every year including 400 active-duty Navy retirements, re-enlistments, and field trips of over 50,000 students annually – and American Idol, Discovery Channel, and Fox News have also filmed some of their episodes here. The lively nightlife neighborhood Gaslamp District is known for its clubs, dive bars, cocktail lounges, and restaurants – you can also visit Horton Plaza Park here that has an interactive fountain. If you like performing arts, Spreckels and Balboa theaters feature music concerts, comedy shows, and plays. Another good attraction near Crown Cove is San Diego Zoo, a non-profit wildlife sanctuary that is home to 3,500 rare and endangered animals, and over 700,000 plants.

If you get hungry, there are many restaurants within a 15-minute drive of Crown Cove. Burger Lounge is an awesome hamburger restaurant serving grass-fed beef, turkey, French fries, quinoa dishes, and was awarded the Traveller’s Choice 2020 Award by Tripadvisor. The crowded restaurant Miguel's Cocina has a nice menu that includes Mexican food, margaritas, mojitos, sangrias, and tequilas. If you are looking for an affordable restaurant, the vegetarian-friendly Night & Day Café offers American and Mexican menus with beer and wine.
