Pismo Beach - Wilmar Stairs Access

Located north of Pismo Beach Pier, the Wilmar Stairs access are a set of public wooden stairs providing access to a beach area that is a bit secluded from the adjacent Pismo State Beach. The beach has beige sand and cliffs and coves to the north. A short walk to the south of the beach will lead you towards the iconic Pismo Beach Pier, which is visible from the beach areas. 

The beach has lifeguards, and several other amenities including showers, restrooms, and concession stands are situated to the south of the beach area near the Pismo Beach Pier. The beach also allows pets on a leash.

The beach offers a number of activities to visitors including snorkeling, kayaking, sunbathing, swimming, beach walking, wildlife watching, fishing, volleyball, paddleboarding, and canoeing. It’s also a good place to surf – the waters here are less crowded than other beaches. A variety of children’s rides are located near the Pismo Beach Pier a short walk away. The pier is also great for fishing and checking out an impressive view of the Pacific Ocean and observing migrating whales. You can also dig on the beach to find Pismo clams. You can also explore the coves and white cliffs to the north of the beach during low tide, which have some interesting nooks and crevices on their rocky surface, while the southern part of the beach has volleyball courts.

The beach is easily accessible - it’s situated behind the SeaCrest OceanFront Hotel. Free on-street parking is available at Wilmar Avenue, which is situated to the west of Price Street.

Pismo Preserve is set among the Californian woodlands and coastal region and offers a number of activities including trails for horse riding, biking, and hiking. You can also drive to the Oceano Dunes to hike, camp, and drive along one of the largest coastal dunes in California.
