In addition, there is another boardwalk near the beach that goes along the north of the beach through a nine-hole golf course. This boardwalk eventually merges into the Meadow Creek Trail leading to the Pismo State Beach Monarch Butterfly Grove which is the seasonal home of 10,000 migratory butterflies from late October through February. If you like camping, the Oceano Dunes Campground of Pismo State Beach is located in the nearby community of Oceano at a four-minute drive from the entrance of Pismo State Beach - Grover Beach (the Oceano Campground entrance is located near 555 Pier Avenue). This campground accommodates both tents and RVs and also offers many amenities including restrooms, showers, a horseshoe pit, and fire rings. A visitor center offering interesting exhibits on the local natural and cultural history and a native plant garden are also available near the campground.
