Overview

Located in the city of Palos Verdes Estates, Honeymoon Cove is a small, narrow, and rocky beach that is backed by a bluff-top residential area. Also known as Wally’s, Honeymoon Cove is a perfect destination for scuba diving and snorkeling.

Tide pools are the only amenity offered at Honeymoon Cove.

There are many fun activities at Honeymoon Cove including scuba diving, snorkeling, surfing, tide pooling, fishing, and beachcombing. 

Parking

Getting to Honeymoon Cove is easy – the access trail to the beach is situated near the point where Paseo Del Mar and Via Barri intersects and there is free street parking available along both these roads. Please note that the trail is very steep and it is recommended to wear good shoes while visiting the beach.

Attractions

If you are looking for attractions near Honeymoon Cove, you can drive 20 minutes to Roundhouse Aquarium that is home to many incredible sea creatures including jellyfish, great white sharks, captive killer whales, rockfishes, African penguins, and the Pacific Sea nettles. The non-profit art museum Chen Art Gallery is home to one of the most important collections of Chinese arts in the United States including a Qing dynasty throne room, Ming dynasty bedroom, jade carvings, snuff bottles, gilt bronze Buddhist statues, and ancient pottery. If you like hiking, Vanalden Cave is a sandstone formation in the Santa Monica Mountains which are about 25-feet tall, 25-feet wide, and 50-feet deep. The 1.55-mile long and 100-feet tall Vanalden Trail leads to a vista point that provides an incredible view of the Santa Monica Mountains. Another great attraction near Honeymoon Cove is Trump National Golf Club Los Angeles, an 18-hole golf course that hosts The Michael Douglas Pro-Celebrity and Friends Golf Tournament in April annually.

Restaurants

If you get hungry, you can drive 10 minutes to many restaurants near Honeymoon Cove. Mama Terano is a family-friendly Italian restaurant that serves pan-seared sea bass, pasta, bay scallops, homemade pesto sauce, and risotto with asparagus and prosciutto. The Peruvian restaurant Inka Wasi offers steaks, salads, entrees, desserts, beers, and cocktails. Another good restaurant near Honeymoon Cove is Raffaello’s Pizza, a pizza restaurant that serves pizza, garlic bread, burgers, and sandwiches at very reasonable prices.

If you are looking for a hotel near Honeymoon Cove, you can drive eight minutes to the luxurious and pet-friendly 5-Star hotel Terranea Resort that is spread across 102 acres and features a bar, lounge, spa, sauna, fitness center, 9-hole golf course, four pools, eight restaurants, and fishing tours.  The Portofino Hotel & Marina is a 4-Star hotel with a pool, bar, restaurant, and gym. If you are looking for budget-friendly hotels near Honeymoon Cove, the 3-Star Miyako Hybrid Hotel offers a bar, spa, sauna, restaurant, and fitness center – and the 2-Star Americas Best Value Inn Rancho Palos Verdes has a nice restaurant.
