Overview
Located on the southern coastline of the city of Rancho Palos Verde, Terranea Cove Beach, also called Long Point Beach, is a beach that lies near the eastern end of the Terranea Resort. The northern portion of the beach is sandy, while the terrain near the shoreline is rough and full of rocks and pebbles. The eastern part of the beach has a sea cave that can be explored at low tide.

While the beach does not have lifeguards, it does have many amenities including showers, restrooms, walking trails, and sitting areas.
Activities
Terranea Cove beach offers a number of activities including beach walking, sunbathing, snorkeling, swimming, scuba diving, tide pooling, canoeing, kayaking, surfing, paddleboarding, kitesurfing, bodyboarding, boogie-boarding, wildlife watching, and boating. It is advisable to look out for rocks near the coastline while engaging in water sports or swimming. The clear waters near the beach offer a great opportunity for snorkeling and boogie boarding. We recommend reviewing a tide chart of the beach area before visiting since at low tide you can explore the adjacent sea cave near the beach. The sea cave has a unique topography. However, be careful as the cave surface can be slippery. Migrating whales, dolphins, seals, and sea lions are present in the waters around the beach. You can kayak along the shoreline and explore the bluff walls along the coast.
Parking
You can get to Terranea Beach easily - there is a free parking lot for the beach access route near 100 Terranea Way. From the parking lot, you can access the walking trail to Terranea Cove Beach.
Attractions
There are a number of attractions a short drive away from the beach including the Wayfarers Chapel featuring exquisite organic architecture which was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Another nearby attraction is the Korean Bell of Friendship which signifies amiability and a strong bond between the United States and South Korea. The area near the beach has been often used for shooting several iconic films including several installments of the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise, Pearl Harbor, and The Aviator.
Restaurants
If you're looking for a restaurant, Think Prime Steak House is a high-end steakhouse offering delicious steaks which are served with a range of sides and finger-licking desserts. A great family-friendly dining option is the modestly priced Eat at Joe’s which is 25 minutes away and serves great breakfast dishes and excellent coffee. Another great dining option is the Bombay Tandoori & Banquet which serves great Indian food including koftas and rogan josh served along with refreshing mango lassi drink.

If you are looking for a hotel near Ranchos Palos Verde Beach, there are many great nearby options. The 5-Star Terranea Resort is an upscale resort displaying Mediterranean architecture and offering a variety of amenities including a spa, pools, restaurants, hot tub, and a golf course. A more affordable option is the 3-Star Torrance Marriott Redondo Beach which is 24 minutes away and offers several amenities including a restaurant, a pool, a hot tub, spa, a zen garden, and a terrace with a fire pit. The modestly priced 2-Star Redondo Inn & Suites is a great option which is located 24 minutes away.
