Overview
Located on the southern end of the city of Long Beach, Marine Stadium Beach is a long and narrow beach situated beside a marine stadium that was built in 1925. The stadium was used to organize the rowing events for the 1932 Olympics which were hosted in Los Angeles. The part of the beach present on the southern side of the marine stadium is sandy, while the northern parts of Marine Stadium Beach are rockier. Dogs are not allowed on this beach. Marine Stadium Beach does not have any lifeguards but it does have restrooms and a boat launch area. Getting to Marine Stadium Beach is easy - it's located at 5255 Paoli Way Long Beach. There is a free parking lot available near the beach.
Activities
Marine Stadium Beach offers many activities, including water-skiing, motor boating, paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing, jet-skiing, paddle-boarding, rowing, and picnicking. The beach is best known for high-octane, thrilling water sports activities. You can water ski here between 8 am to sunset in the designated areas, while unrestricted rowing is allowed in the stadium between sunrise to 8 am. If you are planning to row here before sunrise and after sunset, make sure that you observe the stipulated speed limit and row with the safety lights on. The northern part of the stadium has a park and is a popular venue for hosting concerts organized by the local municipal band. The Long Beach Sprint Nationals are usually held in August every year as a part of the annual Long Beach Sea Festival, which sees exciting motorboat races being organized in the stadium. If you are looking for a less crowded beach for swimming and sunbathing, we suggest heading to other nearby beaches, including Belmont Shore Beach and Alamitos Bay Beach.
