Overview

Located in the city of Long Beach, Colorado Lagoon is an inland saltwater lagoon that is surrounded by large parks. There are two unnamed beaches on opposing sides of the lagoon shoreline which are connected by a pedestrian bridge. It is a popular visiting spot among locals owing to its calm and shallow waters. Colorado Lagoon and its surrounding parks offer a variety of amenities including lifeguards, picnic areas, showers, restrooms, a playground, tennis lawn, and a golf course and also offer access to people with disabilities. Dogs are not allowed on the beaches around Colorado Lagoon. Getting to Colorado Lagoon is easy - it’s located at 5119 East Colorado Street. Activities

Colorado Lagoon Park and the beaches within it offer few activities including swimming, picnicking, golfing, wildlife watching, and model boat sailing. The lagoon is a popular swimming option due to its shallow depth and absence of water currents. However, we recommend reviewing the water quality before visiting due to the high level of microbial contamination and pollutants often reported in the water here. A popular activity here is model boat racing - the Long Beach Model Boat Shop organizes a seven-week model boat-making workshop for children during summers and model boat races are held in the lagoon every Friday. The grassy park around the lagoon has walking trails, playgrounds, picnicking areas, and barbecue spots making it an ideal place for a family visit. Colorado Lagoon has an interesting landscape and you can see many species of birds here including sandspur and killdeer.
