Located in the small town of Little River, Little River Blowhole is a naturally occurring sinkhole that has a very small and narrow beach that is situated in front of Little River Cemetery. Also known as Little River Blowhole Beach and Little River Punchbowl, Little River Blowhole was formed when the waves from the North Pacific Ocean created a depression in the middle of a forest of pine trees. Although Little River Blowhole does not have lifeguards, it welcomes dogs on leash and offers few amenities including rock tunnels and hiking trails. There are many fun activities at Little River Blowhole including swimming, hiking, beach exploration, and beach walking. Getting to Little River Blowhole requires a little bit of work – the beach is located at the intersection between Shoreline Highway and Little River Airport Road and you can use the free parking spots available along the highway that are located outside Little River Cemetery’s gates.After parking, you will need to climb down a short trail named Blowhole Trail using ropes to get to the beach.Please note it is not safe to descend to the beach without ropes because the trail is quite steep and very slippery.
