Located between Goff Cove Beach and Treasure Island, Middle Man Cove features one of the most iconic rock formations in Laguna Beach. There is no direct access to this beach, but you can climb over the rocks at Goff Cove or Treasure Island to get here. As a result, this beach is relatively secluded from crowds, perfect for those who want a more peaceful and private scene. When you are here, make sure that you check out the natural rock arch- it is a popular backdrop among photographers and has been used in countless wedding shots.

Middle Man Cove is a popular site for experienced scuba divers and snorkelers, as many types of fish and marine animals reside in the waters. For beginner swimmers, be careful of conditions, as lifeguards are not stationed at this beach, and rip currents often form near the rocks. This beach has a lot of tide pools as well, so if you are willing to do a little exploring, you can catch a close-up glance of creatures such as the giant spined sea star and the Spanish shawl. If you don’t want to get wet, there is also a short hiking path that leads you up to a bluff where you’ll find picnic tables and benches.

If you get hungry, Splashes Restaurant is a cozy New American restaurant in the Surf & Sand Resort that offers palm-shaded patios right next to the ocean. Another local favorite that is a 15-minute drive away is Shake Shack, one of the most popular spots to enjoy burgers, fries, and milkshakes while taking in views of the Pacific Ocean. You can also take a six-minute walk to The Loft, a dining option in the Montage Resort known for their weekend brunch menu and extensive wine offerings.

If you need a place to stay, check out the Montage, a 5-Star resort spanning 30 acres that features two outdoor swimming pools and a dry redwood sauna. Another great option is Pacific Edge, an upscale hotel that is a six-minute drive away and offers complimentary beach gear rentals and is close to attractions such as Heisler Park and the Laguna Art Museum. If you want a more casual place, Laguna Brisas is a family-friendly hotel that has an ocean-view terrace and complimentary breakfast.
