Overview

Located on the northern side of Laguna Beach, Irvine Cove is a private beach in the guard-gated community of 100 homes where many high-profile figures such as Breandan Iribe live. It is managed by the Irvine Cove Homeowners Association and is not accessible to the public unless you are invited by a resident. As a result, this beach is very secluded and rarely crowded. If you’re fortunate enough to visit this exclusive spot, you’ll find a volleyball court, picnic tables, and restrooms situated near the beach for your convenience.

Activities

This cove features a rock wall that divides the beach in two. When water conditions are calm, you can often see divers and snorkelers in the southern section of the beach. This location also invites surfers and bodyboarders to take advantage of its moderate waves. Be careful when you are in the water however, as major rip currents can develop here and there are no lifeguards stationed here. For those that are feeling adventurous, there is a rock arch on the north end of the beach that can be explored during low tide when the waters are calm.

Restaurants

If you are feeling hungry, take a 12-minute drive to Beachcomber’s Cafe, a converted cottage house that is known for its California-based breakfast and brunch menu. We also like Mastro’s Ocean Club, a fine dining restaurant featuring wet-aged USDA Prime steaks and fresh seafood as well as live entertainment. Another local favorite is Bear Flag Fish Company and their signature poke bowls with fresh Ahi tuna, salmon, or octopus.

Hotels

If you need a place to stay, the Crescent Bay Inn is just a six-minute drive from the beach and offers cozy, family-friendly rooms with free WiFi. Another excellent option is The Tides, a two-star hotel with an outdoor pool and BBQ grill that is a seven-minute drive from Irvine Cove. Marriot’s Newport Coast Villas is also nearby and provides amenities such as tennis and basketball courts, 3 outdoor pools, and numerous fine dining options.
