Overview
Located in the city of Encinitas, Grandview Beach is situated on the northern side of Leucadia State Beach – a California state park. It is also known as Grandview Surf Beach because of its strong waves, making it is a popular destination for surfing. This beach gets its name from the wooden stairways with palm trees on both sides that have a ‘grand view’ of the ocean.

There are several amenities here including lifeguards, free parking, and street parking. If you need to use restrooms, you can walk half a mile to Beacon’s Beach.

Grandview Beach has several activities including fishing, paddle-boarding, sailing, scuba diving, and snorkeling. You can also swim here, but be careful of the high tides and rip currents.
Parking
Getting to this beach is very easy – after you get off of Leucadia Boulevard, drive down Neptune Avenue past Beacon’s Beach to the dead-end where you will find a free parking lot on your right. It is advised to reach here early, especially on weekends because the lot fills up quickly. After you park, you can access the beach through the wooden stairways along the bluff.

If you are looking for nearby attractions, Annie's Canyon Trail provides hiking areas great for both beginners and experienced hikers because of the natural climbing walls with single-pitch rock climbing routes. San Diego Botanic Garden is a botanical garden that is a 10-minute drive away – it is spread across 37 acres and features the nation’s biggest bamboo collection and 29 uniquely themed gardens including, the well-known Hamilton Children’s Garden. It has been awarded ‘Readers’ Choice 2019’ and ‘Top 10 Botanic Gardens in North America’ awards by USA Today 10Best. The 18-hole beachfront golf course Encinitas Ranch Golf Course is a nine-minute drive from Grandview Beach and has a driving range, golf shop, and restaurant. Another good option is the Museum of Making Music – it’s 11-minutes away and highlights the music industry's history from 1990 through exhibitions, live performances, and educational programs. If you like shopping, Carlsbad Village is situated nearby and has numerous antique and curio stores.

If you get hungry, there are many restaurants within a five-minute drive of Grandview Beach. Leucadia Donut Shoppe is a local American eatery offering a variety of donuts including glaze, cake, apple fritters, and French Crullers. If you are looking for a vegetarian-friendly restaurant, Fish 101 Leucadia serves numerous seafood options. Haggo's Organic Taco features authentic Mexican food like tacos, shrimp ceviche, fish and chips, burritos, and special diets for vegans at very reasonable prices.
