If you want a beach with a lot of amenities, you will find only lifeguards (during summers only) and street parking here. You can walk to Moonlight State Beach that is situated just one block away if you need to use restrooms or showers. D Street Beach has calm waters and shallow waves as it is located in a gradual slope area.

Parking
Getting here is easy – after you get off of Highway 101, head west on D Street for a few blocks where you will find a small paid parking lot. To access the beach, walk down a large wooden staircase that leads from the lot to the beach. There is also free street parking available along Highway 101 and D Street.
Attractions
If you are looking for nearby attractions, you can walk a few minutes to La Paloma Theatre, a historic Spanish theatre that was one of the first theatres to show talkies in 1927. Many famous artists including Charlie Chaplin, Loreena McKennitt, Nickel Creek, Ralph Stanley, Jerry Garcia, and Eddie Vedder have performed here. San Diego Zoo is a non-profit wildlife sanctuary that is home to 3,500 rare and endangered animals, and over 700,000 plants. If you like water parks, SeaWorld San Diego features water rides, roller coasters, pet shows, and underwater diving at Explorer’s Reef. Del Mar Fairgrounds is spread across 370 acres – it hosts many events including the annual San Diego County Fair, Del Mar National Horse Show, Scream Zone, and Holiday of Lights. Another good option is San Dieguito Heritage Museum at the Heritage Ranch which displays historical photographs and artifacts from Encinitas.
