Boneyard Beach(D Street Viewpoint Park)

Located in the city of Encinitas, Boneyard Beach is a wide beach situated below a very steep cliff between Swami’s Beach and D Street Beach. This beach is popular among surfers because of its mid-sized waves – but be careful as during high tides, the water reaches the cliff.

There are several amenities at Boneyard Beach including lifeguards, ATMs, and showers. 

Boneyard Beach has several other activities to offer including fishing, paddle-boarding, sailing, and swimming.

Getting here is easy – after you get off of Highway 101, drive down to D Street where you will find free street parking available. It is only accessible through the stairways located at neighboring beaches Swami’s Beach and D Street Beach, and then heading north and south respectively.

If you are looking for nearby attractions, Encinitas Boathouses is situated on the streets above Boneyard Beach – these are boat-shaped houses of around 1,100 square feet built by architect Miles Kellogg. You can walk a few minutes to La Paloma Theatre, a historic Spanish theatre that was one of the first theatres to show talkies in 1927. Many famous artists including Charlie Chaplin, Loreena McKennitt, Nickel Creek, Ralph Stanley, Jerry Garcia, and Eddie Vedder have also performed here. If you like water parks, SeaWorld San Diego features water rides, roller coasters, pet shows, and underwater diving at Explorer’s Reef. The San Dieguito Heritage Museum at the Heritage Ranch displays historical photographs and artifacts from Encinitas. Spread across 370-acres, Del Mar Fairgrounds is known for many events including the annual San Deigo County Fair, Del Mar National Horse Show, Scream Zone, and Holiday of Lights. Another great option is the San Diego Zoo, a non-profit wildlife sanctuary that is home to 3,500 rare and endangered animals, and over 700,000 plants.

If you're looking for a restaurant, you can drive two minutes to Maurizio's Trattoria Italiana, a vegetarian-friendly Italian restaurant that serves pasta, spaghetti, meatballs, lasagna, salads, and artichoke appetizers. The Roxy Encinitas is a 20th century-themed American family-friendly restaurant with live music and cocktails – it also has special vegan options. As another option, Modern Times Far West Lounge was mentioned in "8 of San Diego’s Hottest New Restaurants and Bars" by Visit San Diego and "Where to Eat and Drink in San Diego" by Wine Enthusiast.
