Please note that surfing is not allowed here between May and October – surfers can walk 10 minutes south to Tamarack Surf Beach during these months. Getting to Carlsbad City Beach is very easy – after you get off of San Diego Freeway, drive down to 3001 Ocean Street and park anywhere along the street. Four public stairways provide access to the beach – the first is at Carlsbad Village Drive, the second is at Grand Avenue, the third is at Beech Avenue, and the fourth is at the north end of Ocean Street at Rue des Chateaux.
