Overview
Located in Sarasota County, Brohard Beach is a large beach with white sand. A pier named Venice Fishing Pier is also present on this beach. Brohard Beach does not have lifeguards. Multiple grassy recreational parks are present near this beach including North Brohard Park, South Brohard Park, and Brohard Paw Park (also known as Paw Park). The beach is named after Smyth Brohard, who once served as the mayor of the city of Venice between 1958 and 1971.

Brohard Beach does not have lifeguards. However, the beach and the area around it have many amenities including picnic tables, benches, showers, a pavilion, drinking fountains, and volleyball courts. Dogs are allowed without a leash in a designated part of the beach - this dog friendly portion is present near Brohard Paw Park.

Brohard Beach offers many fun activities including sunbathing, beachcombing, volleyball, fishing, picnicking, wildlife watching, swimming, surfing, paddleboarding, kitesurfing, windsurfing, bodysurfing, skimboarding, kayaking, canoeing, surf-skiing, water-skiing, jet-skiing, parasailing, boating, and snorkeling. If you are planning to go into the water near Brohard Beach, we recommend being careful as the water here has unpredictable rip currents. In addition, the water near this beach is also occasionally known to have high concentrations of microbial contamination. Depending on the time of the year, you can see many kinds of animals in the water near this beach including dolphins, manatees, and sea turtles. Wetlands are also present near this beach which makes it an amazing bird watching spot. Another popular activity in Brohard Beach is beachcombing - during low tide, you can comb this beach for many kinds of interesting objects including shells and fossilized shark teeth. The dog-friendly portion of this beach near Brohard Paw Park is popular with pet owners as it is one of the very few beaches around the city of Venice and the surrounding areas that allow dogs without leash.
The Venice Fishing Pier is also present on this beach - this pier offers amazing Instagram-worthy views of the Gulf of Mexico and is also an amazing fishing spot. You can catch many kinds of fish in the water around this pier including snook, Spanish mackerel, pompano, and flounder. In addition, visitors do not require a fishing license while fishing from Venice Fishing Pier. Parking
Getting to Brohard Beach is easy - multiple access points to the beach are present along Harbor Drive South including near 1600 Harbor Drive South and 1999 Harbor Drive South, and parking lots are also available nearby. However, if you are planning to access the dog friendly part of this beach near Brohard Paw Park, you can park your car near 1850 Harbor Drive South and then access the beach via an access path.
Attractions
There are many attractions near Brohard Beach. The Historic Venice Train Depot was built in 1927 as a train station. This depot currently serves as a museum and has interesting exhibits on local history. Pelican Pointe Golf and Country Club is a 27-hole golf facility which offers a fun and challenging golfing session. In addition, this golf facility has been also featured in the TV show Traveling Golfer. If you are looking for another attraction near Brohard Beach, Venetian Waterway Park is a linear recreational park that is present along a portion of the Intracoastal Waterway’s banks. This park has interesting walking and biking trails. In addition, the park also has picnic shelters, barbecue spots, and benches. In addition, the park also offers an amazing wildlife watching experience, along with views of the Intracoastal Waterway.
