Located at the southern end of the city of St. Pete Beach, Pass-a-Grille Beach - also known as Pass-A-Grille Beach - is a four mile-long beach with white sand and sparse vegetation that has a rocky jetty is present near its southern end. This beach is situated in a beach town known as Pass-a-Grille (also known as Pass-A-Grille).
Amenities
Pass-a-Grille Beach does not have lifeguards. However, the beach and the area around it have many amenities including showers, restrooms (located near 10th Avenue), and concession stands. Rental facilities for beach chairs and umbrellas are also present near this beach. Dogs are not allowed on Pass-a-Grille Beach.

The water near the rocky jetty at the southern end of Pass-a-Grille Beach occasionally offers fun surfing waves. However, if you are planning to go into the water near Pass-a-Grille Beach, we recommend being careful as the water near this beach is known to have unpredictable rip currents. Depending on the time of the year, you can see many kinds of animals in the water near this beach including sea turtles, manatees, and dolphins. Pass-a-Grille Beach is also an amazing fishing spot - you can catch many kinds of fish in the water here. However, if you are planning to fish in the water near Pass-a-Grille Beach, please make sure that you follow the local fishing regulations. Pass-a-Grille Beach offers amazing Instagram-worthy views of the Gulf of Mexico, particularly during sunsets. A ceremonial bell is present near this beach - each day during sunset, a lucky visitor is chosen to ring this bell 15 times. This practice has become a popular local tradition, and bell ringers are often delighted to share their experience in a guest book afterwards. If you like shopping, Pass-a-Grille’s 8th Avenue is present nearby and has many interesting shopping stores, bars, and restaurants.
Parking
Getting to Pass-a-Grille Beach is easy - the beach is present at the southern end of St. Pete Beach and it is easily accessible from Interstate 275 and Florida State Road 682 (which is a part of the Pinellas Bayway). Metered street parking spaces are also available near the beach. However, please note that metered parking is only enforceable between 8 am and 8 pm and parking here is free after 8 pm and before 8 am.
Fun Fact
As an interesting fact, the beach and the beach town get its name from the French phrase "passe aux grilleurs" which means "passageway of the grillers" – fishermen used to grill or dry their catch on this beach during the 18th century.
Attractions
There are many attractions near Pass-a-Grille Beach. Alligator & Wildlife Discovery Center is home to more than 180 creatures including lizards, rabbits, snakes, pigs, alligators, and fish. These animals are generally rescued and cannot be rehabilitated to the wild. The center also offers interesting educational programs that seek to raise public awareness about these wonderful creatures. Fort De Soto Park (also known as Fort DeSoto Park) is a county managed park which is spread over 1,136 acres and is composed of five artificially inter-connected islands. You can explore the park’s vibrant biodiversity via hiking and biking trails - this park has a large variety of habitats including mangroves, wetlands, palm hammock forests, and hardwood forests and you can see many kinds of native plants here. Fort De Soto Park is also a fantastic bird-watching spot and more than 328 bird species are known to live around the park. This park is also used as a seasonal nesting site by loggerhead sea turtles. The park also has a fort called Fort De Soto, which was constructed around the turn of the 20th century and offers an interesting insight into local history. Fort De Soto Park has a boat launching facility, restrooms, picnic areas, children’s playgrounds, concession stands, and two fishing piers. In addition, the park also has a campground which accommodates both tents and RVs.
