Overview

Located along the Brevard County shoreline, Ocean Park is a recreational park that has an unnamed white sand beach. This beach is also known as Ocean Park Beach. Coastal vegetation is present near this large and popular beach. 

Amenities

Ocean Park has many amenities including lifeguards, showers, volleyball courts, restrooms, boardwalks, picnic areas, and a pavilion. 

Activities

Ocean Park offers many fun activities including sunbathing, beachcombing, wildlife watching, fishing, picnicking, swimming, volleyball, boating, kayaking, canoeing, surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, bodysurfing, bodyboarding, parasailing, jet-skiing, surf-skiing, water-skiing, and boating. The water near Ocean Park is popular among surfers as it seasonally offers thrilling and fun surfing waves. However, if you are planning to go into the water near Ocean Park, we recommend being careful as the water here is known to have unpredictable rip currents. Depending on the time of the year, you can view many kinds of animals including dolphins and sea turtles. If you like birdwatching, you can view many kinds of birds around the beach in Ocean Park including pelicans, gulls, and sanderlings. If you are planning to fish in the water near Ocean Park, please make sure that you follow the local fishing regulations.

Parking

Getting to Ocean Park is easy - the park is present near the end of Ocean Avenue, which is easily accessible from Florida State Road A1A. A paid parking lot is also present near the park.

Attractions

There are many attractions near Ocean Park. Melbourne Beach Pier is 20 minutes away by car - this pier was initially built in the 19th century.  It offers amazing Instagram-worthy views of the Indian River Lagoon, especially at sunrise. In addition, this pier is also an amazing fishing spot. Liberty Bell Memorial Museum has two major sections named the Rotunda of American History and Freedom Hall - the Rotunda of American History has interesting exhibitions about the vibrant history of Florida and the United States. In addition, it has a full-scale replica of the iconic Liberty Bell, which was created by the Whitechapel Bell Foundry (the creators of the original bell present in Philadelphia’s Independence Hall). The Freedom Hall has interesting memorabilia depicting the military history of the United States. If you are looking for another attraction near Ocean Park, Coconut Point Sanctuary is a 62-acre protected area that has many kinds of habitats including coastal strands, oak scrubs, mangrove forests, and coastal oak forest. The hiking trail and observation area (looking over the Indian River Lagoon) offers an amazing wildlife watching experience - you can view many kinds of wonderful animals around this sanctuary including many varieties of shorebirds and ospreys. On rare occasions, you can see pods of dolphins and young sea turtles in the water here. As an interesting fact, this area was earlier inhabited by the Native American Ais people and scholars often claim that Juan Ponce De Leon also landed here during his 1513 expedition of Florida.

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants near Ocean Park. Djon's Steak And Lobster House is an upscale restaurant that offers amazing steaks and seafood. Sand on the Beach offers amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean. This restaurant serves outstanding dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner including seafood, eggs, pancakes, biscuits & gravy, tacos, sandwiches, and salads. If you are looking for another good and affordable restaurant near Ocean Park, Sunnyside Cafe serves excellent dishes for breakfast including waffles, eggs, and pancakes. In addition, the restaurant also serves excellent wraps, sandwiches, and burgers.
