Donaldson Park

Located in the central Floridian city of Avon Park, Donaldson Park is a large recreational park that has a large unnamed white-sand beach. This beach is situated along the shores of Lake Verona and is also known as Donaldson Park Beach. Huge oak trees are present near this beach. The beach in Donaldson Park also has an interesting replica of a dinosaur fossil. 

Donaldson Park does not have lifeguards. However, the beach and the area around it have many amenities including a playground, restrooms, and a boat ramp. 

Donaldson Park offers many fun activities including sunbathing, beachcombing, picnicking, wildlife watching, swimming, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, surf-skiing, and boating. If you are planning to enter the water near Donaldson Park, we recommend being careful as the water in Lake Verona is considerably deep. If you are planning to fish in the water near Donaldson Park, please make sure that you follow the local fishing regulations. If you like birdwatching, you can view many kinds of birds around Donaldson Park. Donaldson Park is ideal for families as it has a playground and picnic areas. The Avon Park Noon Rotary Club organizes the annual Bluegrass and Blueberry Festival in Donaldson Park, which sees many fun events being held in this park, along with plenty of great food options.

Getting to Donaldson Park is easy - the park is located near 109 East Main Street, and a parking lot is also present nearby.

There are many attractions near Donaldson Park. Avon Park Historical Society and Depot Museum (also known as the Depot Museum & Historical Society Of Avon Park) has interesting exhibits that offer a unique insight into the history of Avon Park and Central Florida. Children’s Museum of the Highlands is especially dedicated to children and has interactive exhibits which encourage children to learn and enhance their creativity, while also having fun. If you are looking for another attraction near Donaldson Park, Military Sea Services Museum is 20 minutes away by car. This museum offers intriguing exhibits on military history and focuses on the naval branches of the United States Armed Forces.
