Overview
Located adjacent to the neighborhood of Solimar Beach Colony, Solimar Beach is a narrow beach situated along the Ventura County coastline. Much of the beach has eroded away and there is only a small area of light brown sand available. The beach is located near a residential area and portions of the beach have been fixed with manmade rocky embankments to prevent further erosion. The northern part of the beach is wider than its southern part.
Amenities
Solimar Beach does not have any lifeguards or other amenities, so prepare accordingly. The beach also allows dogs on leash.
Activities
Solimar Beach offers many fun activities including swimming, sunbathing, beachcombing, wildlife watching, boating, surf skiing, jet skiing, wakeboarding, surfing, skimboarding, boogie boarding, paddle boarding, kitesurfing, windsurfing, bodysurfing, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. The water near Solimar Beach is known for its mild waves, making it ideal for amateur surfers and swimmers. However, if you are planning to go in the water near Solimar Beach, we recommend being careful as the water here is known to have rip-currents. The water near the beach is also home to a variety of animals including seals, sea lions, dolphins, and migrating grey whales (between December and April). The beach offers a great view of the nearby Anacapa Islands. If you are looking for a dry place to sunbathe here, we recommend visiting this beach at low tide, since during high tide a significant portion of this narrow beach is submerged. Another popular activity in Solimar Beach is fishing - you can catch a large array of fish here including various kinds of bass and dogfish.

Getting to Solimar Beach is easy - it is located near 2808 Pacific Coast Highway/ California State Highway 1. There is a free parking lot available near the beach entrance.
Attractions
There are many attractions near Solimar Beach. Mission Basilica San Buenaventura is a Catholic mission and historical landmark having a museum and a gift shop and which also offers interesting tours around the mission premises, giving a unique insight into the early history of Southern California. Ventura Botanical Gardens feature a unique array of over 160 species of plants collected from all over the world. If you are looking for another fun attraction near Solimar Beach, Grant Park is a grassy park that offers memorable views of the city of Ventura and the Pacific Ocean. Additionally, the park also has a cross which was planted in 1782 by the Franciscan priest Junipero Serra, who had also previously established Mission San Buenaventura.
Restaurants
If you get hungry, there are many restaurants near Solimar Beach. Casa Bella Prime Steakhouse is an upscale restaurant that offers excellent seafood and steaks. The Taj Cafe offers excellent Indian dishes including pakoras, naan, and tandoori chicken. The restaurant was also awarded Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice award in 2020. If you are looking for another affordable restaurant near Solimar Beach, Spencer Makenzies’ Fish Company offers delicious seafood tacos, burritos, clam chowder, and ceviches.

The 4-Star Best Western Carpinteria Inn offers many amenities including a restaurant, a bar, a pool, a hot tub, an exercise room, and a garden. A more affordable hotel is the 3-Star Cliff House Inn which offers many amenities including a restaurant, a seasonal pool, a private beach club, and complimentary breakfast.
