Faria Beach(Pitas Point Beach)

Located near the northern end of the Faria Beach Colony, Faria Beach - also known as Pitas Point Beach - is a narrow beach that is adjacent to a campground known as Faria Beach Park. Faria Beach has both rocky and sandy parts. 

Faria Beach does not have any lifeguards, but the beach and the adjacent campground have showers, restrooms, a camp store, and a cafe. The beach also allows dogs on leash. 

Faria Beach offers many fun activities including surfing, skimboarding, kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, windsurfing, kitesurfing, bodysurfing, boogie boarding, boating, jet-skiing, surf skiing, beachcombing, fishing, wildlife watching, and sunbathing. The water near the beach is a popular surfing spot due to its thrilling and sharp right-hand surfing waves. However, if you are planning to go into the water near Faria Beach, we recommend being extremely careful since the water near the beach has dangerous rip currents. Depending on the time of the year, you can see a variety of animals in the water near Faria Beach including seals, sea lions, dolphins, and migrating grey whales (between December and April). Another popular activity here is fishing - you can catch a large array of fish here including surfperches, croaker, and corbina. Faria Beach offers a memorable view of the Channel Islands and the Pacific Ocean. If you like camping, Faria Beach Park offers a campsite which accommodates both RVs and tents. The campsite offers a pleasant oceanfront camping experience and also offers many amenities including wi-fi and restrooms and also offers access to fire rings and picnic tables (for a fee).

Getting to Faria Beach is easy - the beach is located near 4350 Pacific Coast Highway, which is easily accessible from United States Highway 101 via Exit 78. There are free parking lots here, but we recommend visiting early as this free parking lot is often full. 

There are many attractions near Faria Beach. The Museum of Ventura County offers interesting historical exhibits, art galleries, and cultural displays from all over Ventura County and the Channel Islands. Ventura Pier, which was built in 1872, offers magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean and is a great fishing spot. It also features informative panels highlighting the history of the city of Ventura, a snack bar, sitting areas, a seafood restaurant, and a gift shop. In addition, the pier has also been featured in a variety of television series, movies, and novels including the 1990s TV show Melrose Place, the 2006 movie Little Miss Sunshine, and the 2014 novel Pier Rats by Bruce Greif. If you're looking for another attraction near Faria Beach, Seaside Wilderness Park consists of 24 acres of undeveloped coastal areas having a variety of landscapes including wetlands, sand dunes, and coastal scrub which can be explored via hiking trails. In addition, the park also serves as a great bird-watching spot.

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants near Faria Beach. Café Zack is an upscale restaurant that is set within a 1930s cottage and offers delicious steaks, seafood, pasta, and pork chops. Cafe Fiore is an Italian restaurant that serves an array of delicious pasta. In addition, the restaurant also hosts live music performances and was awarded Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice award in 2020. If you are looking for another good and affordable restaurant near Faria Beach, Taqueria Cuernavaca offers delicious tacos, burritos, and enchiladas.

If you are looking for a hotel to stay near Faria Beach, there are many great nearby options.
