The water near the Marina Park Beach is calm, making it ideal for amateur swimmers, paddle boarders, and children. The water near the beach is also home to a variety of animals including seals, sea lions, dolphins, and migrating grey whales (between December and April). There is a rocky jetty present near the southern part of the beach which serves as a great fishing spot - you can catch a large array of fish here including salto, croaker, corbina, and bass. Marina Park Beach is often windy, making it ideal with sail boaters, windsurfers, and kite surfers. The beach is a popular choice among dog-lovers due to the availability of walking trails and calm water offering a safe yet fun experience for dogs. The boat dock near the southern end of Marina Park Beach is a great place to launch a kayak or a canoe and have a fun experience around the Ventura Harbor. If you want to learn sailing, Leo Robbins Community Sailing Center also offers sailing lessons in the boat dock near Marina Park Beach. Marina Park, which is situated adjacent to Marina Park Beach, is extremely popular with families as it features a grassy park featuring picnic areas, barbecue spots, walking trails and a play area for kids. There is a wood-and-cement replica of a ship (known as San Salvador) which kids often enjoy exploring and playing on.
