Located near the community of Two Harbors, Big Fisherman’s Cove - also known as Fisherman’s Cove - is a cove that has an unnamed beach with light brown sand and some rocky parts. This beach is also known as Big Fisherman’s Cove Beach. The beach is situated below oceanfront bluffs. A pier is also present near this beach. Getting to Big Fisherman’s Cove is easy - you can easily walk or bike to the beach from Two Harbors. Unfortunately, the beach and the surrounding areas in Big Fisherman’s Cove are off-limits to the public as these areas are a part of the Wrigley Marine Science Center (also known as Philip K. Wrigley Marine Science Center) of the University of Southern California. However, you can view the beach in Big Fisherman’s Cove from the blufftop area above. In addition, you can also launch your kayak from Two Harbors and explore the interesting rocky shoreline and sea caves present near Big Fisherman’s Cove. You can also explore an interesting offshore rock formation named Bird Rock which is present near this cove. While boat anchoring is generally not allowed in Big Fisherman’s Cove, you can anchor your boat in the cove during severe storms and other emergency situations. The Wrigley Marine Science Center is generally only accessible to research scholars, faculty, and students from the University of South California, and other academic groups. However, usually between Memorial Day and the Labor Day weekend, the research center offers interesting tours of its premises for the general public on Saturday mornings. Visitors can view many interesting research exhibits, a touch tank, and a hyperbaric chamber. In addition, they can also attend an informative science lecture.
