Overview
Located in the town of Stinson Beach, Red Rock Beach is a small, rocky, and remote beach that is a part of Mount Tamalpais State Park. Also known as Little Stinson, Mickey’s, and Redrock Beach – Red Rock Beach is a clothing-optional beach. Hot springs are the only amenity offered at Red Rock Beach.

There are a couple of fun activities at Red Rock Beach including rock climbing, bouldering, and beach exploration.
Parking
Getting to Red Rock Beach is easy – the beach is situated along Shoreline Highway and there is a free parking area on both sides of the highway. After parking, you will need to carefully climb down a steep access trail from the parking area to the beach. Visitors can also reach Red Rock Beach by walking one mile south from a beach named Stinson Beach.
Attractions
If you are looking for attractions near Red Rock Beach, you can drive 10 minutes to Muir Beach Overlook Trail which leads to Muir Beach Overlook, a cliffside park that was a U.S. Army coastal observation post during World War II. It offers incredible views of Pacific coastal cliffs and migrating blue whales between November and June. If you like hiking, there are many other trails here as well – the new and multi-use Dias Ridge trail on a ridgeline offers incredible views of the Pacific Ocean, the trail on the east side leads to Coyote Ridge, and the trail on the south side leads to Tennessee Cove. Named after naturalist John Muir, Muir Woods National Monument is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and is home to 240 acres of redwood forests. Another great attraction near Red Rock Beach is Mooncow Bay, a historical landmark that features a great vista point to picnic or camp.
Restaurants
If you get hungry, there are many restaurants within a five-minute drive of Red Rock Beach. The waterfront seafood restaurant Sand Dollar Restaurant serves oysters, clam chowder, groupers, fish ‘n’ chips, and shrimps. The Siren Canteen is a Mexican restaurant featuring tacos, nachos, fajitas, tortillas, and enchiladas along with cocktails and live music. Another good restaurant near Red Rock Beach is Breakers Café that offers burritos, burgers, sandwiches, French fries, ceviche, and desserts in a patio setting.
