Overview
Located at the western end of Newport Beach Municipal Beach, West Newport Park Beach is a wide sandy beach known for its nearby sports facilities and park. The beach is usually uncrowded and a great place to enjoy some friendly competition with friends or family.
Activities
The calm waves at the beach make it a great location for surfing of all levels. Surfers especially enjoy the area nicknamed the “River Jetties,” which is located near the mouth of the Santa Ana River at the south end of the beach. People also enjoy coming to the beach park to make use of the many sports facilities including tennis courts, basketball courts, volleyball nets, and handball courts. There is also a sandy playground at the beach park, especially enjoyed by young children. Adjacent to the playground is a small grassy area that can be used to picnic or lounge while taking in the Southern California sun.
Parking
The entrance to the beach can be found next to Seashore Lot 4 at the intersection of 58th Street and Seashore Drive just one block off of PCH. You’ll be able to find plenty of street parking along Seashore Drive and also at Seashore Lot 4.

If you get hungry, check out Eat Chow, a sleek casual cafe located just a ten-minute walk away from the beach. They serve New American cuisine including delicious breakfast options, solid wine list, and a great selection of craft beers. The Cucina Alessa is another fantastic choice and also a ten-minute walk away. Alongside their fantastic pizzas, Cucina Alessa also features tasty pasta options amid a rustic dining room. We also like The Alley Restaurant, a popular American style pub with a cool cozy atmosphere and excellent service.

If you’re looking for a place to stay, check out the Newport Beach Hotel, a casual hotel conveniently located just steps away from the Newport Boardwalk. The hotel features bright rooms with hardwood floors, pillow-top mattresses, and complimentary continental breakfast. If you’re looking for a more luxurious option, we like the Lido House just a five-minute drive away. The Lido House is an upmarket hotel with stylish-nautical themed rooms and has amenities including a heated outdoor pool, hot tub, spa, and chic rooftop cocktail bar.
