Located on the central part of the Half Moon Bay waterfront, Half Moon Bay State Beach - Roosevelt Beach (which is also known as Naples Beach) is a part of a state park known as Half Moon Bay State Beach. The beach has light brown sand and the water here is extremely cold. While the beach does not have lifeguards, it does have restrooms and the state park area near the beach has picnic spots and walking and biking trails.

Half Moon Bay State Beach - Roosevelt Beach offers many fun activities including wildlife watching, swimming, boating, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, beachcombing, sunbathing, paddle boarding, skim boarding, sail boarding, kite surfing, boogie boarding, and bodysurfing. If you are planning to go in the water near Half Moon Bay State Beach - Roosevelt Beach, we recommend wearing a wetsuit as the water here is extremely cold and being careful as it also has riptides. The water near the beach is home to a variety of animals including dolphins, seals, sea lions, migrating whales (between December to April), and also to a variety of aquatic birds including gulls, sanderlings, and brown pelicans. Half Moon Bay State Beach’s Visitor Center also offers interesting exhibits offering a view into the vibrant natural and cultural history of the state park. The Visitor Center is open Thursday through Sunday between 10 am to 4 pm during summers. The portion of the state park around Frenchman’s Creek features a variety of archaeological sites belonging to the Native American Ohlone people.

Getting to Half Moon Bay State Beach – Roosevelt Beach is difficult due to its narrow and steep access trail . The access trail to the beach is located near the intersection of Young Avenue and Cabrillo Highway North/ California State Highway 1. There is a parking lot near this intersection which is also used by visitors from the nearby Dunes Beach. From this parking lot you can walk north along Young Avenue to reach the access trail leading to Half Moon Bay State Beach - Roosevelt Beach.
