Located on the northern end of the city of Half Moon Bay, Mirada Surf Beach is situated below a bluff-top park called Mirada Surf West situated in the Miramar district of Half Moon Bay. Mirada Surf Beach, which is also known as Vallejo Beach, has light-brown sand.
Amenities
Although Mirada Surf Beach does not have lifeguards and or offer any other amenities, the bluff-top park near the beach has restrooms, picnic areas, and walking and biking paths. Mirada Surf Beach also allows dogs on leash.
Activities
Mirada Surf Beach offers many activities including swimming, fishing, sunbathing, surfing, skimboarding, bodysurfing, fishing, sailboarding, boogie-boarding, boating, kayaking, canoeing, beachcombing, and wildlife watching. If you are planning to go into the water at Mirada Surf Beach, we recommend being careful as the water here is known to have rip currents. The water near the beach is also home to a number of animals including seals, sea-lions, dolphins, and migrating whales (between December to April). Mirada Surf Beach is also a great fishing spot - popular catches here include surfperches, striped bass, and rockfishes. The blufftop Mirada Surf West park has a number of walking and biking trails.
Parking
Mirada Surf Beach is easy to access - it’s located near the intersection of Magellan Avenue and Mirada Road. Street Parking is available at Magellan Avenue, and you can also find a free parking lot near Mirada Surf West park across California State Highway 1/ Pacific Coast Highway. From there, you can walk to the southern end of Magellan Avenue to use the access path leading to the beach.
Attractions
There are many attractions near Mirada Surf Beach. Half Moon Bay Art Glass offers informative glass-blowing lessons and lets you create your very own glass artwork. If you want to learn surfing, Pillar Point Surf School offers surfing lessons and also organizes summer surf camps for kids. Purisima Creek Redwoods Preserve is situated in a towering forest of California Redwoods and offers hiking, biking, and equestrian trails for exploring the preserve’s picturesque landscape and unique array of flora and fauna.
Restaurants
If you're looking for a restaurant, there are many great restaurants near Mirada Surf Beach. Pasta Moon is an upscale Italian restaurant serving a fantastic range of pasta and pizzas made from farm-fresh and seasonal ingredients and has been praised in many publications including the MICHELIN Guide. Another great restaurant is Ketch Joanne Restaurant & Harbor Bar which offers excellent seafood dishes including fish-and-chips, crab omelets, and clam chowder. If you’re looking for a modestly priced restaurant, Dad’s Luncheonette is set in a refurbished train caboose and offers excellent sandwiches, macaroni-and-cheese, and hearty soups.

The 4-Star Oceano Hotel & Spa Half Moon Bay Harbor offers many amenities including a restaurant, a bar, a spa, and a fitness center.
