Overview

Located in the town of Dillon Beach, Lawson’s Landing Beach is a long, wide, and private beach that is a part of the privately-owned campground Lawson’s Landing in northern Marin County. Also known as Sand Point Beach and Brazil Beach, Lawson’s Landing Beach is situated at the entrance to Tomales Bay. Lawson’s Landing Beach is a dog-friendly beach and offers many amenities including barbecues, boat ramps, boat rentals, dunes, and a paid campground with tents and RVs. 

Activities

There are many fun activities at Lawson’s Landing Beach including fishing, boating, camping, kayaking, clam digging, crabbing, and beach walking, but be careful because the currents can be strong.

Parking

Getting to Lawson’s Landing Beach is very easy – after you get off of Highway 1, drive down to 137 Marine View Drive where you will find an entrance booth that charges a nominal day-use fee for using the private beach.

Attractions

If you are looking for nearby attractions, you can drive 40 minutes to many options near Lawson’s Landing Beach. Sonoma County Fairgrounds offers a horse-racing track, jockey club, carnival rides, and several open-air amphitheaters. It hosts many annual events including the Sonoma County Fair, The Harmony Festival, and The Sonoma Valley Harvest Fair – a wine festival with a grape stomping contest. The famous road course Sonoma Raceway plays host to many annual racing events including the NASCAR Cup Series, the IndyCar Series, the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, and the American Federation of Motorcyclists series. Scandia Family Fun Center is an awesome amusement park featuring many rides including a pirate ship swing, train ride, merry-go-round swings, horse carousel, go-karts, and bumper cars. Another great attraction near Lawson’s Landing Beach is Saint Teresa of Avila Church which has been the setting for Alfred Hitchcock’s 1963 filmThe Birds.

Restaurants

If you get hungry, there are many restaurants within a 30-minute drive of Lawson’s Landing Beach. The upscale restaurant Huria’s serves NY-inspired pizza Napoletana, octopus, beet and ricotta, smoked hummus, desserts, and wine. The seafood restaurant Fishetarian Fish Market features seafood items, chips, bacon, sandwiches, beer, and picnic tables. Another good restaurant near Lawson’s Landing Beach is Drakes Sonoma Coast which was mentioned in "Top 10 Fine Dining Restaurants" by Sonoma County Tourism.
