Crescent Beach(Crescent Beach Picnic Area, Redwood National Park)

Located on the south side of the city of Crescent City, Crescent Beach is a long, wide, and crescent-shaped beach that is a part of the Redwood National Park. 

Also known as Crescent Beach Picnic Area, Crescent Beach is a dog-friendly beach and offers few amenities including restrooms, picnic tables, and a beach overlook. 

There are few fun activities at Crescent Beach including surfing, beachcombing, and beach walking. If you are looking for additional activities, you can hike half a mile south to Enderts Beach from the beach overlook that provides a beautiful view of Crescent Beach. 

Getting to Crescent Beach is very easy – after you get off of Highway 101, drive down to 2123 Enderts Beach Road to reach the beach’s free parking lot that is within walking distance of the beach.

If you are looking for nearby attractions, there are many within a 10-minute drive of Crescent Beach. Spread across 139,000 acres, Redwood National and State Parks is home to over 200 exotic plant species including English Ivy, Spotted Knapweed, and Poison Hemlock. Fern Waterfall is a fun tourist attraction with a six-mile-long Boy Scout Tree Trail that is a fantastic place for Instagram-worthy pictures. Ocean World features sea-life creatures housed in million gallons of water tanks including sharks, seals, sea lions, and rays, interactive tide pools, shark petting, high-flying sea lion shows. Another great attraction near Crescent Beach is Del Norte County Historical Society, a museum with the finest collections of Native American basketry, weapons, farming and mining equipment, and photographs of the infamous Tsunami disaster of 1964.

If you get hungry, you can drive six minutes to many restaurants near Crescent Beach. The seafood restaurant Schmidt’s House of Jambalaya has a nice menu including jambalaya, shrimp skewers, a shrimp PO’ boy, shrimp bisque, crawdad fritters, garlic bread, and boudin balls. If you like Japanese food, Toyama Sushi serves sushi, unagi, soba, udon, and onigiri at very affordable prices.
