Overview
Located in the town of Cayucos, Cayucos Beach is a large beach with light brown sand and a gradual sloping incline. The beach is not to be confused with another separate beach called Cayucos State Beach which is situated to the north of Cayucos Beach. The beach has a splendid background of the oceanfront homes along Pacific Avenue. Due to the beach’s sloping incline, it might look wide during low tide and really narrow during high tide. Many large rocks are also present along the beach shoreline. Cayucos Beach does not have lifeguards or any other amenities, so plan your trip accordingly.
Activities
Cayucos Beach offers many fun activities including beachcombing, sunbathing, wildlife watching, fishing, swimming, surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, paddle boarding, boogie boarding, bodysurfing, kayaking, canoeing, boating, jet-skiing, and wakeboarding. If you are planning to go into the water near Cayucos Beach, be careful as the water here is known to have rip currents. The water near the beach is home to many animals including seals, sea lions, dolphins, and migrating grey whales (between December and April). Another popular activity in Cayucos Beach is fishing - you can catch a large array of fish in the water near the beach including surfperch and halibut.
Parking
Getting to Cayucos beach is easy - the access points to the beach are located near the intersections of Pacific Avenue with the 1st, 3rd, 6th, 8th, 10th, 12th, 16th, 19th, and 21st Streets. The access points are easily identifiable due to the "Coastal Access" signs present near them. You can find street parking spaces along Pacific Avenue.
Attractions
There are many attractions near Cayucos Beach. Hardie Park is a four-acre park that has many amenities including a covered picnic area, horseshoe courts, a children’s playground, and two tennis courts. The park also has a handicapped-accessible swimming pool with changing rooms and showers, and a pool for toddlers, which are open during summers. Morro Rock is a giant volcanic plug that is a unique geological marvel. The volcanic plug, whose name means "nose" in Spanish, is also a great bird-watching spot - this rock is a nesting place for many bird species including cormorants, gulls, and the locally endangered peregrine falcon. If you are looking for another attraction near Cayucos Beach, the Downtown area of Cayucos has many interesting antique stores and restaurants. In addition, Downtown Cayucos hosts many events including the Cayucos Farmers’ Market (held on Fridays between 10 am to 12:30 pm), the annual Sea Glass Festival (held in the first weekend of March), Cayucos Wine & Food Festival (which is held in November), the semiannual Cayucos Antique Street Faire, and the Cayucos 4th of July Celebrations.

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants near Cayucos Beach. The upscale Windows On The Water Restaurant & Bar has a dining area that offers beautiful views of the ocean. The restaurant also serves delicious gourmet dishes and hosts live musical performances on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday nights. In addition, the restaurant also serves amazing gourmet dishes and is famous for its steaks and seafood. Bill & Carol’s Sea Shanty offers delicious breakfast dishes, salads, burgers, sandwiches, and seafood. If you are looking for another good and affordable restaurant near Cayucos Beach, the modestly priced Ruddell’s Smokehouse offers excellent smoked sandwiches, tacos, and salads. In addition, the restaurant is also famous for its smoked seafood.
