Overview

Located near the resort village of Es Canar on the island of Ibiza, Cala Nova also known as Cala Nova Beach is a 250-meter-long curve-shaped southeast-facing beach with light brown sand and a few rocky portions.  Cala Nova is sometimes considered a nude beach, particularly in the early morning.

Cala Nova offers many amenities including lifeguards, showers, restrooms, and rental facilities for boats, sunbeds, and umbrellas.

Activities

Cala Nova offers many fun activities including sunbathing, beachcombing, wildlife watching, water-skiing, hiking, fishing, swimming, snorkeling, parasailing, paddleboarding, scuba diving, surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, bodysurfing, bodyboarding, skimboarding, jet-skiing, boating, wildlife watching, kayaking, and canoeing.

Cala Nova is ideal for slightly less-experienced swimmers because the water here usually has manageable waves and it is mostly shallow and clear.  The rocky southern portion of Cala Nova is also an ideal site for snorkeling.  In addition, Cala Nova is also ideal for surfers because the water here sometimes offers fun surfing waves, particularly during winters.  If you are planning to swim, snorkel, scuba dive, kayak, or canoe near Cala Nova, we recommend being careful because the water here is known to have unpredictable rip currents and dangerous waves.  In addition, submerged rocks near the beach can also cause injuries.

Cala Nova offers wheelchair access for visitors with disabilities.  In addition, Cala Nova also has a few reserved parking spaces for visitors with disabilities. 

 

Parking

Getting to Cala Nova is easy from the village of Es Canar, you need to drive along Avenida Cala Nova and then turn left towards Carrer de Ses Pedrisses.  From Carrer de Ses Pedrisses, you need to turn right towards an unnamed paved road this unnamed paved road will lead you to Cala Nova.

There are multiple free street parking spaces near Cala Nova and you can easily walk to the beach through a dirt track after parking here.

Fun Fact

There is a hill near the northern end of Cala Nova that offers amazing Instagram-worthy views of the Mediterranean Sea and the Eastern Ibiza shoreline.

 

Attractions

There are many attractions near Cala Nova within a 25-minute drive.   Torre De Campanitx also known as Torre d'en Valls is a historic tower that was built in 1763 to prevent attacks by Turkish pirates.  The area around this tower also offers amazing views of the eastern Ibiza shoreline and the Mediterranean Sea.  Hippy Market Punta Arabi is a popular hippy market that is open on Wednesdays and it offers many fun shopping stores selling handicrafts and novelties.  In addition, it also offers many fun live music performances, along with great food options.  Museo Etnográfico de Ibiza displays many interesting artifacts and objects associated with local Ibizan culture.  Punta Grossa Lighthouse is a derelict lighthouse that was built in 1867.  You can explore the ruins of this lighthouse and the area around this lighthouse also offers amazing views of the Ibizan coastline.  If you are looking for another attraction near Cala Nova, Acrobosc Ibiza is an adventure park that has many fun rides for kids and adults including trampolines and obstacle courses.

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants near Cala Nova within a 30-minute drive.  HAMBRE has a rosy ambiance and it offers delicious gourmet dishes with Mediterranean and regional culinary influences this restaurant has also been praised by many publications including Tapas magazine and the British newspaper Financial Times.  Amante is an upscale waterfront restaurant that offers amazing Mediterranean-style dishes for lunch and dinner including seafood, Galician veal chop, Iberian ham, and pasta this restaurant also hosts movie screenings.  Aubergine by Atzarhas a casual ambiance and it also offers many amazing dishes including pastas, seafood, salads, and pizzetas this restaurant also hosts art exhibitions and it has also been praised by many publications including Conde Nast Traveller and Vogue.  If you are looking for another good and affordable restaurant near Cala Nova, Cafe Montesol offers many amazing dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner including tapas-style dishes, seafood, ham croquettes, salads, steaks, toast, and patatas bravas.  Another good and affordable restaurant near Cala Nova is Nude Café that serves many delicious dishes for breakfast that are created with local organic ingredients and it also serves amazing smoothies and juices.
