Overview
Located in the western part of the island of Formentera in Spain – Raco d’es Moro – also called Calo d’es Moro and Calo d’es Moro Beach – is a rocky curve-shaped beach with a small amount of brown sand. This beach is a part of a natural park named Ses Salines d’Eivissa i Formentera Natural Park – Raco d’es Moro is located near the southern end of this natural park. This beach should not be confused with another separate beach named Calo des Moro – this beach is located on the nearby island of Mallorca.

Raco d’es Moro Beach Spain offers many fun activities including sunbathing, beachcombing, swimming, surf-skiing, jet-skiing, snorkeling, scuba diving, water-skiing, paddleboarding, kitesurfing, windsurfing, boating, wakeboarding, parasailing, kayaking, canoeing, and wildlife watching.
This beach is ideal for beginner swimmers because the clear turquoise water here usually has manageable waves. In addition, scuba divers also frequently visit this beach to explore its vibrant nearby marine biodiversity. There is an old sandstone quarry on a blufftop area at the northern part of the beach – some brave visitors sometimes dive from this quarry onto the water below. If you are planning to swim, kayak, or scuba dive here, we recommend being careful because the water here is known to have unpredictable rip currents and dangerous waves.
If you like bird watching, you can see many migratory and local birds in the wetlands around the beach. This beach is one of Formentera’s hidden gems – it is ideal for visitors looking for a quieter beach experience because it sees fewer visitors as compared to other nearby beaches.

Getting to Raco d’es Moro can be difficult because the access trails around it are rugged – to reach this beach, you need to first drive to a local cultural center named Can Marroig. There are street signs around the nearby port village of La Savina that will help you to reach Can Marroig – after arriving here, you can park at the cultural center’s free dirt parking lot. Once you park here, you can easily walk to the Raco d’es Moro through rugged walking trails – there are signs around the beach that offer directions to the beach.
We recommend visiting this beach wearing sturdy footwear because the area around it is rocky.

If you are looking for another attraction near the beach, S’Estany des Peix is a lagoon that offers calm and shallow water – the lagoon’s calm water conditions make it ideal for practicing watersports including windsurfing, kitesurfing, kayaking, canoeing, and surf-skiing.
