Located within the coastal community of Collaroy in Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Collaroy Beach is a long and wide beige sand beach.  The beach is tucked between the popular Narrabeen Beach on the southern end and Fishermans Beach to its north. It is positioned along the shores of Collaroy Basin and has a beautiful backdrop of many oceanfront houses, hotels, and restaurants which together provide incredible views of Long Reef Headland and the vast Pacific Ocean.

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants within a six-minute drive of Collaroy Beach.  The Collaroy is a nautical-themed restaurant positioned right on the beach and serves salads, pizzas, bruschetta, burgers, pasta, seafood, pork, meat, and poultry dishes.  Crento Italian Collaroy serves amazing Italian food, including pizzas, pasta, bruschetta, meat, and poultry dishes.  Fernando’s Peruvian Rotisserie serves delicious salads, burgers, sandwiches, burritos, wraps, nachos, and pre-designed meals.  Kintaro serves amazing Japanese food, including soups, salads, sashimi, sushi, rolls, and bento boxes.   If you are looking for another good and affordable nearby restaurant, Chon Thong Thai Collaroy serves amazing soups, noodles, fried rice, Thai curries, seafood, meat, and poultry dishes.

If you are looking for a hotel near Collaroy Beach, there are many great options nearby.   If you are looking for an upscale hotel, the 5-Star Manly Pacific Sydney MGallery Collection is 18 minutes away by car and offers many amenities including an outdoor pool, a hot tub, a fitness center, and two restaurants.  A more affordable hotel is the 4-Star Narrabeen Sands Hotel by Nightcap Plus, which has many amenities, including a fitness room, whirlpool tubs, and a restaurant.  Another moderately priced option is the 4-Star Metro Mirage Hotel Newport, which has many amenities including an outdoor pool, a fitness room, a hot tub, a restaurant, and a private jetty.  A more reasonably priced option is the 3-Star The Hornsby Inn, which offers a few amenities including pool tables, a Thai restaurant, and complimentary breakfast.  If you are looking for another good and affordable nearby hotel, the 3-Star Blues Point Hotel offers a few amenities including a restaurant, a sports bar, and a terrace.

Collaroy Beach offers many amenities, including seasonal lifeguards, all-abilities restrooms, showers, picnic shelters, picnic tables, an electric barbecue grill facility, a saltwater rockpool, a large playground with all-abilities swing sets, a liberty swing, shaded areas, a ramp, a surf school, restaurants, and a nearby bus stop.

Collaroy Beach is a family-friendly beach that offers many fun activities, including swimming, sunbathing, beachcombing, paddleboarding, building castles, surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, snorkeling, diving, and hiking.  If you are planning to go into the water, we recommend being careful, as the water is known to have unpredictable rip currents.  The beach is a perfect spot for windsurfing due to its frequently windy weather and great waves from north-easterly and southeasterly winds.  In addition, visitors can also enjoy a 50-meter rockpool (a small pool of seawater that forms along the coastline and is a microhabitat that is home to many sea creatures) that is positioned at the southern end of the beach.  If you enjoy fishing, you may catch a variety of fish.  If you enjoy snorkeling, you may spot an array of marine life, making it a fascinating spot for nature enthusiasts.  Hikers can enjoy the nearby hiking trails, which offer unique insights into the local biodiversity.  The beach hosts many festivals and surfing events throughout the year.  It also attracts a large influx of visitors due to its convenient location.  Dogs are allowed if they are on a leash, and it is open from sunrise until sunset.

Collaroy Beach offers an access path for people with disabilities.  Also, visitors can request lifeguards to provide wheelchairs.

Getting to Collaroy Beach is easy - the beach has many free street parking spots located at 1154 Pittwater Road, which is accessible via State Road A8.

Collaroy Beach got its name from an Aboriginal word, which means a small rock headland.  Interestingly, the beach and its neighboring area were originally part of Narrabeen, but they were renamed after the collier S.S. Collaroy, an iron paddle steamer that ran aground on the beach during the storm.

There are many attractions near Collaroy Beach.  Governor Phillip Park is a beachfront dog-friendly park that offers many amenities, including a gazebo, picnic areas, picnic tables, benches, barbecue grill facilities, restrooms, and a large playground with swing sets.  Upper Gledhill Falls features a small waterfall that cascades into a deep emerald pool surrounded by many rocky cliffs, where visitors can enjoy a refreshing dip.   Barrenjoey Lighthouse is a 36-foot-tall lighthouse positioned on the northernmost tip of the Palm Beach Peninsula.  It was built in 1888 to monitor the smugglers activities in bringing contraband into Broken Bay, and it has also served as an observation point to watch Japanese ships during World War II.  Visitors can climb up the lighthouse and enjoy incredible views of the vast Pacific Ocean.  Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park is spread over 15,000 hectares and is home to a wide variety of landscapes, including forests, woodlands, heaths, rainforests, mangroves, rivers, waterfalls, cliffs, beaches, rocky formations, and Aboriginal sites.  Visitors can enjoy many fun activities, including bushwalking, hiking, camping, mountain biking, boating, kayaking, canoeing, horseback riding, picnicking, fishing, and bird watching.   If you are looking for another nearby attraction, Garigal National Park preserves fragile ecosystems, including bushland, wetlands, forests, and estuaries, that offer unique insight into the local biodiversity.  The park offers many interesting activities, including fishing, cycling, horseback riding, kayaking, canoeing, picnicking, sailing, boating, bushwalking, birdwatching, and picnicking.
