Located in the coastal suburb of the Northern Beaches of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Dee Why Beach is a 1.2-kilometer-long beige sand beach.   The beach is tucked between Long Reef Beach and North Curl Curl Beach along Sydney's northern peninsula.  It has a beautiful backdrop of a wildlife refuge on its north that separates the beach from the Dee Why Lagoon, whereas to its south is Ted Jackson Reserve, a few restaurants, hotels, and a rock pool, which together provide incredible views of Long Reef Headland and the vast Pacific Ocean.  In addition, there is a 400-meter-long seawall with a pathway, stairs, observation decks, and an upper promenade.

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants positioned right on Dee Why Beach.  Stella Blu Dee Why is a beachfront restaurant and serves amazing Italian food, including pizzas, pasta, risotto, seafood, meat, and poultry dishes.  Corretto Dee Why has indoor and outdoor seating areas and serves delicious pre-designed meals.  Beach Burrito Co. Dee Why serves amazing Mexican food, including tacos, nachos, salad, burritos, quesadillas, chimichangas, and churros.   Ocean Sushi serves incredible soups, salads, sashimi, sushi, rolls, and bento boxes.   If you are looking for another good and affordable nearby restaurant, The Thai And I Dee Why offer indoor and outdoor seating areas and serve amazing soups, noodles, fried rice, Thai curries, seafood, meat, and poultry dishes.

If you are looking for a hotel near Dee Why Beach, there are many great options nearby.   If you are looking for an upscale hotel, the 5-Star Manly Pacific Sydney MGallery Collection is ten minutes away by car and offers many amenities including an outdoor pool, a hot tub, a fitness center, and two restaurants.  A more affordable hotel is the 4-Star Narrabeen Sands Hotel by Nightcap Plus, which has many amenities, including a fitness room, whirlpool tubs, and a restaurant.  Another moderately priced option is the 4-Star Metro Mirage Hotel Newport, which has many amenities including an outdoor pool, a fitness room, a hot tub, a restaurant, and a private jetty.  A more reasonably priced option is the 3-Star The Hornsby Inn, which offers a few amenities including pool tables, a Thai restaurant, and complimentary breakfast.  If you are looking for another good and affordable nearby hotel, the 3-Star Blues Point Hotel offers a few amenities including a restaurant, a sports bar, and a terrace.

Dee Why Beach offers many amenities, including lifeguards, restrooms, showers, a rock pool, picnic shelters, picnic tables, benches, shaded areas, a barbecue grill facility, a 50-meter swimming pool, a large playground with an outdoor table tennis table, a surf school, restaurants, a boat ramp, and a nearby bus stop.   In addition, the beach is home to the Dee Why Surf Life Saving Club, which offers lifesaving services to the community and educates and promotes surf safety.

Dee Why Beach is a family-friendly beach that offers many fun activities, including swimming, sunbathing, beachcombing, paddleboarding, surfing, snorkeling, diving, rockpooling, picnicking, and hiking.  If you are planning to go into the water, we recommend being careful, as the water is also known to have unpredictable rip currents.  Visitors can also enjoy a 50-meter rockpool (a small pool of seawater that forms along the coastline and is a microhabitat that is home to many sea creatures) that is positioned at the eastern end of the beach.  The beach is a perfect spot for windsurfing due to its frequently windy weather and great waves from southeasterly winds.  If you enjoy fishing, you may catch a variety of fish.  Snorkelers and divers may spot an array of marine life, making it a fascinating spot for nature enthusiasts.  The beach also hosts many interesting events, including Australia Day, New Year's Eve fireworks, and many sporting events such as the Beachley Classic, Sun Run, Cole Classic, and Ocean Thunder.   Dogs are not allowed here, and it is open from sunrise until sunset.

Dee Why Beach offers an access path for people with disabilities.

Getting to Dee Why Beach is easy - the beach has a large paid parking lot located at Dee Why Parade, 98, near Dee Why Village Plaza, which provides easy access to the beach.

The Aboriginal meaning of the word "Dee Why" is "place of big fish" or "deep water."

There are many attractions near Dee Why Beach.  Governor Phillip Park is a beachfront dog-friendly park that offers many amenities, including a gazebo, picnic areas, picnic tables, benches, barbecue grill facilities, restrooms, and a large playground with swing sets.  Upper Gledhill Falls features a small waterfall that cascades into a deep emerald pool surrounded by many rocky cliffs, where visitors can enjoy a refreshing dip.   Barrenjoey Lighthouse is a 36-foot-tall lighthouse positioned on the northernmost tip of the Palm Beach Peninsula.  It was built in 1888 to monitor the smugglers activities in bringing contraband into Broken Bay, and it has also served as an observation point to watch Japanese ships during World War II.  Visitors can climb up the lighthouse and enjoy incredible views of the vast Pacific Ocean.

Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park is spread over 15,000 hectares and is home to a wide variety of landscapes, including forests, woodlands, heaths, rainforests, mangroves, rivers, waterfalls, cliffs, beaches, rocky formations, and Aboriginal sites.  Visitors can enjoy many fun activities, including bushwalking, hiking, camping, mountain biking, boating, kayaking, canoeing, horseback riding, picnicking, fishing, and bird watching.   If you are looking for another nearby attraction, Garigal National Park preserves fragile ecosystems, including bushland, wetlands, forests, and estuaries, that offer unique insight into the local biodiversity.  The park offers many interesting activities, including fishing, cycling, horseback riding, kayaking, canoeing, picnicking, sailing, boating, bushwalking, birdwatching, and picnicking.
