Overview

Located in the southern part of the coastal city of Virginia Beach, Sandbridge North is a large beach with light brown sand.  This beach is the northern part of a larger beach named Sandbridge Beach.

Amenities

Sandbridge North has lifeguards between 9:30 am to 6 pm from Labor Day to Memorial Day most of the lifeguards at Sandbridge North are located at 209 Sandbridge Road.  In addition to lifeguards, Sandbridge North also has a few other amenities including changing areas, showers, and restrooms – please note that most of these amenities are located near 2549 Sandfiddler Road.  Dogs on leash are allowed on Sandbridge North before 10 am and after 6 pm between the Friday before Memorial Day and the Labor Day weekend.  Dogs on leash are allowed on Sandbridge North at any time for the rest of the year.

Activities

Sandbridge North offers many fun activities including sunbathing, beachcombing, wildlife watching, fishing, hiking, swimming, surfing, skimboarding, paddleboarding, windsurfing, kitesurfing, parasailing, jet-skiing, wakeboarding, snorkeling, scuba diving, surf-skiing, wildlife watching, kayaking, and canoeing.

Sandbridge North is ideal for surfers because the water here offers good surfing waves throughout the year.  If you are planning to swim, surf, kayak, snorkel, scuba dive, canoe, or paddleboard near Sandbridge North, we recommend being careful because the water here can have unpredictable rip currents and dangerous waves.  If you are planning to launch your kayak, canoe, surf-ski, or any other boat  from Sandbridge North, please visit the city of Virginia Beach’s website for more information on the local seasonal boat launching and landing restrictions.  If you like birdwatching, you can see many kinds of birds on Sandbridge North including gulls, pigeons, ospreys, and sanderlings.

Sandbridge North is ideal for visitors looking for a quieter beach experience because this beach sees fewer visitors as compared to other Virginia Beach beaches.

Disability

Sandbridge North has multiple wheelchair friendly walkways for visitors with disabilities.  These walkways are mostly located near 2549 Sandfiddler Road.  In addition, you can also contact a private company named Beach Power Mobility for renting beach wheelchairs at (757) 255-8439.

Parking

Getting to Sandbridge North is easy this beach is located along Sandfiddler Road and it is easily accessible from Interstate 64. 

There is a paid parking lot near Sandbridge North at 2549 Sandfiddler Road and there is another paid parking lot for this beach near 209 Sandbridge Road.  These lots usually charge a $5 per day fee for non-local visitors between May 1 and Labor Day.

If you like taking pictures with amazing views, Sandbridge North offers amazing Instagram-worthy views of the Atlantic Ocean and the southern Virginia Beach shoreline.

Attractions

There are many attractions near Sandbridge North within a 25-minute drive.  Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge is a wildlife refuge that has a beach named Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge Beach and it has many kinds of habitats including woodlands, scrubs, sand dunes, and wetlands this refuge also has a visitor center and it also offers many fun activities including hiking, biking, wildlife watching, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing.  Adventureworks is a zipline park that offers fun and thrilling ziplining sessions over Virginia Beach’s coastal wetlands.  Hunt Club Farm is a farm and education center that has many fun things to do and explore including a petting farm with domestic animals, an aviary, a treehouses-based playground, and fun pony rides.  Hunt Club Farm also offers fun events throughout the year including an Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween celebrations, and a harvest festival.   

Red Wing Park is a 97-acre recreational park that offers many amenities including restrooms, grassy recreational areas, vending machines, picnic areas with grills, two playgrounds, racquetball courts, tennis courts, a basketball court, and volleyball court.  This park also has multiple gardens and it also hosts the annual Cherry Blossom Festival.  If you are looking for another attraction near Sandbridge North, Ocean Breeze Waterpark offers a variety of fun and exciting water-based rides.  In addition, this park is also locally famous for having an interesting 50-feet gorilla statue named Hugh Mongous.

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants near Sandbridge North within a 25-minute drive.  The Bee & Biscuit offers many amazing dishes for breakfast and lunch including eggs, pancakes, wraps, sandwiches, salads, and oats.  Il Giardino Ristorante is an Italian restaurant that offers amazing dishes including Italian-style pork chops, pasta, chicken Tuscany, frutti di mare, and veal chops.  Blue Pete’s Restaurant is a waterfront restaurant that offers delicious seafood, along with a variety of excellent American dishes including sandwiches, salads, pastas, and steaks.  Waterman’s Surfside Grille is known for serving amazing seafood – this restaurant also serves many other excellent dishes for lunch and dinner including fries, salads, burgers, sandwiches, and pastas, along with delicious cold beverages.  If you are looking for another good and affordable restaurant near Sandbridge North, Bay Local Eatery is known for serving excellent dishes for brunch including sandwiches, eggs, burritos, wraps, salads, and burgers.
