St. Joe Beach

Located along the Gulf County shoreline, St. Joe Beach is a large white-sand west-facing beach with coastal vegetation. A creek sometimes flows through this beach into the Gulf of Mexico. 

St. Joe Beach does not have lifeguards or any other amenities, so plan accordingly. Dogs on leash are allowed on St. Joe Beach. 

St. Joe Beach offers many fun activities including sunbathing, beachcombing, wildlife watching, fishing, swimming, surfing, kitesurfing, boogie boarding, windsurfing, jet-skiing, surf-skiing, water-skiing, kayaking, canoeing, parasailing, and boating. The water near St. Joe Beach is usually calm with gentle waves, making it ideal for beginner swimmers, kayakers, and canoers. However, if you are planning to enter the water near St. Joe Beach, we recommend being careful as the water here is known to have unpredictable rip currents. Depending on the time of the year, you can view many kinds of animals in the water near St. Joe Beach including sea turtles and dolphins. If you are planning to fish in the water near St. Joe Beach, please make sure that you follow the local fishing regulations. St. Joe Beach is ideal for visitors looking for a quiet beach experience as it sees fewer visitors than other Gulf County beaches. This beach also offers amazing Instagram-worthy views of the nearby St. Joseph Peninsula.

Getting to St Joe Beach is easy - the beach is present along United States Highway 98 - multiple access points for this beach are located along the highway.

There are many attractions near St. Joe Beach. Cape San Blas Lighthouse is a 19th-century lighthouse that has been repeatedly reconstructed and moved due to the constant erosion of the shoreline around it. The lighthouse also offers amazing Instagram-worthy views of St. Joseph Bay. In addition, the Keepers’ Quarters near this lighthouse has interesting historical exhibits along with a gift shop. Highland View Park is a waterfront recreational park that has restrooms, picnic tables, and a boat ramp. If you are looking for another attraction near St. Joe Beach, Constitution Convention Museum State Park is spread over 14 acres and is set around the former settlement of St. Joseph, which was the site of Florida’s first constitutional convention in 1838. The state park and the museum within it have interesting historical exhibitions including artifacts from the settlement of St. Joseph and a replicated convention hall which has replications of eminent statesmen who participated in drafting Florida’s early constitution including David Y. Levy and William P. Duvall.
