Amelia Island Lighthouse dates back to the 18th century and is the oldest lighthouse in Florida. The lighthouse is exclusively open to the public for three hours on Saturdays and twice a month, the city conducts tours of the lighthouse. Amelia Island Museum of History is a local museum that focuses on preserving the local regional history and is housed inside the old Nassau County jail. The artifacts include thousands of historical documents, artifacts, and books focusing on local and natural history.
