Silver Beach(Daytona Beach)

Located in the city of Daytona Beach, Silver Beach is a large white-sand beach in Volusia County. 

Although Silver Beach does not have a lifeguard station, lifeguards from Volusia County’s Lifeguard Corps may occasionally patrol Silver Beach. Silver Beach has a few other amenities including showers, a vehicular access ramp, and restrooms. Dogs are not allowed in Silver Beach. 

Silver Beach offers many fun activities including sunbathing, beachcombing, wildlife watching, fishing, beach-driving, picnicking, swimming, surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing, jet-skiing, surf-skiing, water-skiing, boating, wakeboarding, and parasailing. If you are planning to enter the water near Silver Beach, we recommend being careful as the water here is known to have unpredictable rip currents. It is also important to note that Volusia County authorities may seasonally restrict surfing in the water near Silver Beach (usually between the Saturday before Memorial Day in late May through Labor Day in September). If you are planning to surf in the water near Silver Beach, we recommend visiting the "Surf zones" webpage on Volusia County’s website for more information regarding the local surfing regulations. Depending on the time of the year, you can view many kinds of animals in the water near Silver Beach including sea turtles and dolphins. Sea turtles also use Silver Beach as a seasonal nesting spot between May 1 and October 31. If you are planning to fish in the water near Silver Beach, please ensure compliance with the local fishing regulations. Getting to Silver Beach is easy - the beach is present at the ocean end of Silver Beach Avenue, near its intersection with Florida State Road A1A. A parking lot is also present near Silver Beach.

There are many attractions near Silver Beach. Lilian Place Heritage Centeris a museum set in a 19th-century house - this house has Italianate Victorian-style architecture and it was built by Laurence Thompson, who was one of the first settlers in the region. This museum offers an interesting insight into the local history. Riverfront Park is a waterfront recreational park that has many amenities including a playground, a boat ramp, a kayak launch, a fishing pier, tennis courts, shuffleboard courts, picnic areas, and restrooms. The park also has a 19th-century home belonging to the city’s first female mayor and the park is also undergoing renovation - it will soon have walking paths, bridges, gardens, a splash park, a dog-friendly area, sand dunes, and a concrete waterfront walkway. If you are looking for another attraction near Silver Beach, Halifax Historical Museum is a museum that offers interesting historical exhibitions on the city of Daytona Beach and its surrounding communities.
