Schoonmaker Beach(Kayak Beach)

Located in the city of Sausalito, Schoonmaker Beach is a very small and narrow beach situated next to a park named Schoonmaker Point Marina. Schoonmaker Beach is a family-friendly beach as it has a gradual slope and calm waters that are great for swimming. Also known as Kayak Beach, Schoonmaker Beach is a popular destination for kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding. Sea Trek Kayak & SUP is adjacent to the beach and offers kayak and stand-up paddleboard rentals, lessons, and guided trips.

Schoonmaker Beach offers many amenities including restrooms, tennis courts, a volleyball court, and a bocce ball court.

Getting to Schoonmaker Beach is easy – the beach is situated at 99 Liberty Ship Way and there is free street parking available along the road.

If you are looking for nearby attractions, there are many options within a 15-minute drive of Schoonmaker Beach. Birdwatchers flock to Rodeo Lagoon to see an incredible variety of birds and animals including egrets, great blue herons, tidewater goby, and California brown pelican. If you like hiking, Rodeo Beach Coastal Trail Loop is a steep and dog-friendly loop trail – it is five miles long and follows the bluffs above the Pacific Ocean and Rodeo Beach. Floating Taj Mahal or The Taj Mahal Houseboat was built by Bill Harlan and features marble floors, a wine cellar, a top-level solarium for meditation, and a sauna. Another great attraction near Schoonmaker Beach is The Marin Headlands Art Institute, an arts organization that hosts an internationally recognized artist-in-residence program and offers tours and exhibitions.
