Schoonmaker Beach is a family-friendly beach as it has a gradual slope and calm waters that are great for swimming. Also known as Kayak Beach, Schoonmaker Beach is a popular destination for kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding. Sea Trek Kayak & SUP is adjacent to the beach and offers kayak and stand-up paddleboard rentals, lessons, and guided trips.

If you like hiking, Rodeo Beach Coastal Trail Loop is a steep and dog-friendly loop trail – it is five miles long and follows the bluffs above the Pacific Ocean and Rodeo Beach. Floating Taj Mahal or The Taj Mahal Houseboat was built by Bill Harlan and features marble floors, a wine cellar, a top-level solarium for meditation, and a sauna. Another great attraction near Schoonmaker Beach is The Marin Headlands Art Institute, an arts organization that hosts an internationally recognized artist-in-residence program and offers tours and exhibitions.
