Marina Green Beach

Located in the city of San Francisco, Marina Green Beach is a one-mile-long and wide beach that is a part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.  Marina Green Beach is situated north of Marina Green Park – a beautiful park that offers incredible views of San Francisco Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge, and Alcatraz Island.  Marina Green Park is surrounded by very expensive houses, the St. Francis Yacht Club, and the Golden Gate Yacht Club. Marina Green Beach is filled with cyclists, bikers, and runners and hosts many racing events during weekends. Marina Green Beach is an awesome spot for windsurfing, sailboarding, and flying kites. The beach is a family-friendly spot and is a 10-minute drive from the Exploratorium, a science museum for kids at the Palace of Fine Arts. 

Marina Green Beach is a dog-friendly beach and offers many amenities including restrooms, boat ramps, volleyball courts, a pier, and a grass park.

There are many fun activities at Marina Green Beach including windsurfing, sailboarding, fishing, biking, cycling, and beach walking. If you are looking for additional activities, you can walk a few minutes south to Union and Chestnut Streets where you will find many shops, boutiques, and restaurants.

To access Marina Green Beach, drive down to 200 Marina Boulevard between Fort Manson Street and Scott Street. There is a free parking lot nearby.

If you are looking for attractions near Marina Green Beach, there are many options within a 25-minute drive of the beach. Birdwatchers flock to Rodeo Lagoon to see an incredible variety of birds and animals including egrets, great blue herons, tidewater goby, and California brown pelican. If you like hiking, Rodeo Beach Coastal Trail Loop is a steep and dog-friendly loop trail – it is a little over five miles long and follows the bluffs above the Pacific Ocean and Rodeo Beach.  Bird Island’s white cliffs are very tall offering a prime viewing spot and are covered with cormorants, gulls, and pelicans. Another great attraction near Marina Green Beach is The Marin Headlands Art Institute, an arts organization that hosts an internationally recognized artist-in-residence program and offers tours and exhibitions.

If you get hungry, you can drive seven minutes to many restaurants near Marina Green Beach. The Italian restaurant Original Joe’s Westlake serves authentic and traditional Italian items including pizza, pasta, lasagna, Fiorentina steak, ossobuco, risotto, and truffles. If you like Filipino cuisine, Fil-Am Cuisine offers adobo, kare-kare, lechon, sinigang, crispy pata, and bulalo. Another good restaurant near Marina Green Beach is the vegetarian-friendly Boulevard Café that features cheddar grits, mac-n-cheese, meatloaf, and special vegan items.
