Overview
Located in Westside Los Angeles, Sunset Point Beach, also known as Sunset Beach, is the northernmost part of a state park known as Will Rogers State Beach. Sunset Beach is separated from the rest of Will Rogers State Beach by a stretch of rocky shoreline. Sunset Point Beach has light brown sand, and manmade rocky embankments have been fixed throughout the beach shoreline to prevent erosion. The beach has a variety of amenities including lifeguards, showers, and restrooms. Dogs are not allowed on this beach.
Activities
Sunset Point Beach offers many exciting activities including surfing, paddle boarding, boating, surf-skimming, boogie boarding, kitesurfing, body surfing, swimming, snorkeling, diving, kayaking, canoeing, wildlife watching, fishing, sunbathing, and beachcombing. The beach is a popular spot for watersports as the waves here are low risk, yet fun and consistent, making it an ideal place for bodysurfers, paddle boarders, kayakers. Mid-April to late October is often considered as the best time for kitesurfing around the beach area as afternoon winds during these months are especially strong. The beach is often favored by surfers as the water here has great rolling waves, giving an excellent opportunity for a nice surfing barrel roll. Swimmers, divers, and snorkelers often stick near the coastline to explore the reefs and rock formations present in the water near the beach. However, it is recommended to watch out for unpredictable rip currents or great white sharks in the water when swimming or engaging in watersports near the beach. You can also fish on the beach; popular catches here include opal eyes, perch, and croaker. The water around the beach is home to a variety of animals including seals and sea lions. Will Rogers State Beach, the state park in which Sunset Point Beach is located, has another larger stretch of beach area which is popular among the LGBTQ+ community and is situated a short walk away from Sunset Point Beach. This much wider and sandier beach offers volleyball courts and biking paths.

Sunset Point Beach is easily accessible - the entrance to the beach is located near 17300 East Pacific Coast Highway. Street Parking is available along Pacific Coast Highway near the beach. Another parking option is using the paid parking lot at the nearby Gladstone’s Restaurant.
Attractions
There are many attractions near Sunset Point Beach. The Santa Monica Aquarium, which is located under the iconic Santa Monica Pier, houses more than 100 local marine wildlife species and offers a unique insight into the marine flora and fauna of Los Angeles County. The Eames House is set in the former home of artists Charles and Ray Eames and features mid-20th century architecture and exhibits an extensive art collection along with landscaped gardens which can be explored via guided tours and visits. If you are looking for another attraction near Sunset Point Beach, Will Rogers State Historical Park is set in the former estate of acclaimed Hollywood star Will Rogers and features a ranch house, walking trails, and picnic spots. In addition, it also organizes movie screenings and polo matches.

The Lobster is an internationally recognized seafood establishment located on the Pacific Ocean overlooking the Santa Monica Pier – it is a local favorite that specializes in Maine and California Spiny Lobsters, in addition to entrées composed of fresh, seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients from Chef Govind Armstrong. The Draycott is a high-end restaurant that offers nice steaks and delicious seafood along with a range of excellent wines and cocktails. Cafe Vida offers fusion Latin-Californian cuisine and is an ideal choice for health-conscious diners hoping to emphasize on healthy cooking methods.
